The group is currently closed for new applications. If you apply anyways I am gonna assume you can not read and therefore I have no hope you read the group rules so you will be unable to join the group when it reopens.

Introduction

Playing Appreciated is a group for members that like to play games they win and for giveaway creators that like to see their games getting played. This sounds simple, yet requires commitment and dedication from members by filtering out games they like to play from all group giveaways and when won playing those within one month. In return members will get higher chances of winning games they want and creators will know their giveaways have a high chance of getting played. The group has more than 1000 members and over 25000 historical giveaways.

Group rules

  • You need to set and keep your Steam privacy settings for My profile and Game details public (example);
  • You will play all giveaways you win via this group within one month;
  • When creating a giveaway it is recommended to include a small group rule reminder in your giveaway, something like: "This is a Playing Appreciated giveaway, by joining you commit to playing this game within a month when won.".

More information and detailed rules please see the FAQ.

How to join

You can't join at the moment, we don't accept new members.

  1. Make sure you are not violating any SteamGifts rules;
  2. Comment one of the two options to enter the group in this discussion:
    • Option 1: Showing your commitment by playing a previous won game on SteamGifts that you did not yet play. The game shouldn't be very short and must have achievements. Comment with the name of the game before you start playing it and comment again when you finished playing it. Please upload some screenshots to Steam as well. The game needs to be played in online mode on your own Steam account.
    • Option 2: Supporting the cause by creating a group exclusive giveaway of a game that you would like to see getting played by other group members within a month as soon as your membership request was approved. The game should not have been given away free before (marked by ** when creating a giveaway on SteamGifts).
  3. Press "Request To Join" on our group page;
  4. Wait for us to approve your request, we'll always reply on the comment you have made in this topic.

I'm going to play The Surge 2, which I won a while ago.
I've heard that playtime is usually 30 hours, and I'm going to see ending it at least once, but it will be a long journey even if I'm good to the game.
From when can I request to join?

By the way I'm not sure, but I think I sent the wrong request for join while randomly submitting a request to a public groups.
It's been rejected. :O

Hi Hangack,

By the way I'm not sure, but I think I sent the wrong request for join while randomly submitting a request to a public groups.
It's been rejected. :O

Why it has been rejected it is explained in the main post:

Requesting to join without leaving a comment bellow will result in an automatic rejection.

You even requested to join while the group wasn't even accepting new members and recruitment was closed.

Since it is not the only example I have seen on SG where you didn't follow the rules/instructions I would like you to read and confirm that you understand the rules of the group before I proceed allowing you to join with option 1.

The reason for the rejection was probable I made a mistake while joining several public groups like Indigala. (request to join without thinking, my bad.)

I asked I was wondering if the group rules would also apply to the Option 1. As per the rules, The Surge 2 requires +10.75h or get at least one of 14(>60% 4; 40% 10) recognized achievements.
I can't access that page with my ID, so I don't know which achievements it is, so I'll probably request with playtime.

If my understanding is correct, then I will probably be back next weekend to request a joining. Thank you.

+About achievements, that means just only need any 4?
Alright, I'll play more time(+11h) and upload some screenshots and then I'll be back.

No, to join the group with option 1 you need to beat the whole game, not just play a part of it. Those rules you mentioned only apply to group wins after you are already a group member. You also do not seem to completely understand how either the playtime or the achievement rules work from what you replied so I don't think it is a good idea for you to join if you don't actually understand the rules.

Playing at least 50% of the playtime average or getting all achievements got by players at least 60% of the Steam stats. Achieving either one is easy if I only enter the games I want to play. And if I check my status in the group tool, it will become clear.
Nevertheless, if you think I am not suitable for the group yet, I will withhold joining. Because my native language is definitely not English, so communication with you is limited.

To join the group you need to beat the game (google translate: 당신은 게임을 이길 필요가)
"Beating the game" means reaching its end. Haven't played Surge 2, but ending achievements are "Reborn" or "Hello Darkness My Old Friend". It is story related achievements indicating that you have finished the game (google translate: 스토리라인을 끝내야 합니다).
You have to beat the game to join group.

Playing at least 50% of the playtime average or getting all achievements got by players at least 60% of the Steam stats.

That is requirement for games you won in the group.

Ah, I didn't mention about "to join the group rules". Until recently, the way beat is used is so different that it took me a while to understand it, and it still little confuses me while I read about "beaten".
Obviously, I am willing to clear it even if it takes 30 hours, and I will come back after clear it once.

+Maybe it's at this point that I'm starting to get confused.

The game shouldn't be very short and must have achievements.

But perhaps his concern is that he's not sure if I'll be able to follow the rules after joining the group.
I don't know if I'll follow the rules at once or go through a lot of trial and error for a month, but I think I'll keep it in the end.

However, as a manager(especially as a recruiter) it is important to avoid problems.
If he thinks I'm not suitable, I will follow his thoughts.

Thanks for your help.

community by community, but if I am the manager of any Kor community, I would have reacted stronger then in your case.

Anyway I will play this game to the end and you will not get notice.
And I will come back with another game in the future. I've corrected the confusion and I think I understand now, but at least re-applying later seems good to convince you.

The important rule I haven't mentioned seems to be 1c or 2. Or is the time of 1 month?

Well, I've never used the unlock tool so if I've played, you'll be able to see my achievements proportional to playtime in every game(which game I will win in group) without any problem. I also noticed that there is a tool that excludes idling.
If there are no achievements in the game, I will leave the text about the game in my screenshot as recommended.
Or about package with multiple games (-> Stats are merged into one), the score (In this case, it seems something that can be confirmed after winning GA in group. If possible, I can compare it to other group members or Steam reviews.)?

Since I've already read the rules original text several times, I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if it's a rule I take for granted.
Ummm...Now can I get a passing, or not?

Now I know your gender, I won't make a mistake.(I didn't know before)

Here are the main things that are missing:

From FAQ question 1 - Playtime:

For games that are longer than 10 hours, playing it at least 5 hours would be sufficient

So if the game playtime is over 10 hours you only need to play 5 hours in total.

From FAQ question 2 1 - Achievements:

and depending on the game also story achievements that match the progress you should have compared to the hours of gameplay

This is harder to explain in a simple way. Lets say you have a game that is 5 hours long. The game has an achievement "play the game for 2 hours". Only 10% of the people have that achievement. You still need to have that achievement even if not 60% of people have it since you need to play a game for 2,5 hours and in those 2,5 hours you would have to have unlocked that achievement 100%. This is just a dumb example, but I hope it makes sense what I am trying to say.

From FAQ question 12

If I won a package with multiple games, am I expected to play all of them within a month?
The minimum playtime rules are the same as with singular games. Only difference is that instead of every single game counting on their own, they all count together as one game and you can freely decide which one (or more) of them you are gonna play to get to the minimum requirements. Example: you won a package with games A (1 hour long), B (1 hour long), C (1 hour long) you can play whichever you want as long between them they have at least 1,5 hours of playtime. If the total main/average playtime is over 10 hours the 5 hour limit is valid here as well just like with normal games.

I have no idea how to explain this in a simple way, sorry. It is only for giveaways that have more than 1 game in them anyways. If someone reading this can put this into simpler words for me (I had a hard timing writing and explaining that originally) please let me know.

For games that are longer than 10 hours, playing it at least 5 hours would be sufficient

Obviously I was missing this part. I think that's a convenient rule for the person who won the GAs.

and depending on the game also story achievements that match the progress you should have compared to the hours of gameplay

Naturally, I thought it was an idling problem. But I think about it again, there could be a more abysmal problem. Of course, this has nothing to do with me in general. If some problems are caused by Steam connection, then I can provide a suitable screenshot.

package with multiple games

I said in a previous reply about that, but my verbal skills were poor.

Hangack: about package with multiple games (-> Stats are merged into one)

I can go crazy and play only one game, but I found some good example.
https://www.playingappreciated.com/tracked.php?q=5Xa6o&show=single

If you think it's okay with me to join the group, then check my achievements and screenshots.
The Surge 2 "Hello Darkness My Old Friend" and "A Little Banged Up"
https://steamcommunity.com/id/HanGack/screenshots/ There are 6 recent screenshots(The Surge 2).

And thanks again for your kind explanation.

Obviously I was missing this part. I think that's a convenient rule for the person who won the GAs.

Yep. It exists so if you hate the game you don't have to play more than 5 hours of it.

If some problems are caused by Steam connection, then I can provide a suitable screenshot.

If I see anything that looks wrong I will always ask people for an explanation and screenshots, so if something happens with the connection it shouldn't be an issue. Only thing you can't do (and also mentioned in the rules) is play the game in offline mode on purpose (sometimes it happens by accident and that is ok).

I said in a previous reply about that, but my verbal skills were poor.
Hangack: about package with multiple games (-> Stats are merged into one)

Sorry, that is my fault! I completely missed/forgot that you said that.

If you think it's okay with me to join the group, then check my achievements and screenshots.

Now that I made sure you understand the rules and I have checked through your achievements to make sure everything looks good and you finished the game I can finally say: yes, you can join the group! Request to join the group on Steam here and I will approve it when I see that you requested :)

Hi Elvira, since you don't have any wins on SG you can also pick any unplayed game with achievements from your Steam library instead. You just need to let me know what game it is going to be before you start it.

Let me know if you would prefer that or would like to stick with option 2 instead.

Hello MouseWithBeer, I am ashamed to inform that I dont think I am able/have the will to fully complete [Yoku Island Express] :(

The reason being is that..while the game looks fun, it did posed some challenge. First off, I got soft-locked 30 minutes into the game and had to reset; How I got locked is that some maps/areas will require you to gather fruits to unlock the flippers to proceed; and I've used up my fruits and I am unable to rollback and hence I was stuck at a map/point and unable to proceed further. (Nor back to gather more fruits)

I did a 2nd attempt yet I would be in constant fear of the same thing happening, and having to start afresh :/ I've had a few close calls of being soft-resetted..(because you'd wouldnt know which flippers should be activated first, which should be later)

Secondly..idk is it just me or the game in general, there are some area I was looping the same motion/action and only 10-20mintues later (if lucky) I could escape the loop...I think its really hard for me to enjoy the game if I became stuck in a loop no matter how I try to time/angle my flips

I'm not saying the game is undoable, however I am indeed struggling with it :(

--
I hope to have another shot of an attempt for the completion of another game. The game I have in mind is: [Puzzle Art: Birds] - please let me know if it qualifies, (0h playtime).
Why I am more confident about it is because I have completed a similar game of it: Puzzle Art: Horses; while the game is like jigsaw, tile swapping game; the game is not that easy by any means; cos some tiles really look very similar and you'd have to place them at the exact spot to clear a stage

Please let me know if its possible, i'd respect any outcome :)

--
Some final words: My apologies for not doing my due diligence and blowing a chance like that; before entering similiar giveaway i.e. that requires us to complete a game, i'd always look up on the achievements of the game to see if its doable and watching briefly videos of the gameplay (dont want to spoil too much for myself)

I suggested to play Yoku as entry as I've saw the previous thread mentioning it and I happened to have the game :x (and did not do the necessary prep)

Thank you for your time reading~

Hello there fellow gamer! I just wanted to ask if you tried restarting from the last checkpoint feature? It's hidden in the menu, when I was playing Yoku I also got stuck at one point too and it seemed like there's no way I could get past it, but this feature saved me. (Though I later found out that there was a way to get out even without using it, I was just a dumpling :D)

I think that there's always a way to progress or get back even without any fruit, though it's a while since I 100% it. If you'd need any help feel free to hit me up!

I agree that some of the loops were a bit harder for me to escape too, especially if I just accidentaly entered them without the need to go there in the first place. (Thats where restart from the checkpoint feature was really helpful.)

The map was a bit messy and I remember being a bit frustrated not knowing where to go, what leads where but once I got hang of it, I really enjoyed it. I'm not saying that the game is for everyone, just if you feel like giving it another shot and you'd need help or advice feel free to write me^^
I wish you luck & fun in any game you'll decide to play.

Hello fellow gamer~ Thank you for the advices, yess I've tried the restart from the last checkpoint feature :x but because I've spent all my fruits and then touched the lotus/flower/checkpoint it has become saved/my last checkpoint so I am unable to rollback :x

My biggest fear is progressing far into the game and the same thing happening, i'd be so bummed out; I will give this game another shot down the road but maybe not for now

Yess, i think it can be both enjoyable and frustrating and to beat the game I guess I will have to watch the full video of gameplay so I wont get stuck

I am able to provide video / screenshots (if needed) on how I got stuck in the early game

It is BATTLETECH Shadow Hawk Pack. While the website doesn't track the playtime for DLC, they are all tracked manually. You only played the game before you won the DLC and after you were already kicked. So you have NOT played it in the month you had at your disposal after winning it.

well that interesting, i pretty sure i did play the dlc before and replace it with an urbanmech but well that on me then honestly
so how to i re-apply to join the group, do i need to play one of the games i win to completion and i promise as an old member of P.A from it humble beginning that i will double check my winning and make sure i truly did play them

You have not. I have noted down your playtime when you won the game and when I kicked you and it was exactly the same.

You can rejoin once you play every game that hasn't been approved yet enough. I assume Tokyo Xanadu eX+ is actually played enough (PA website is down right now, so I will check when you are ready to rejoin). As for the DLC, while I know its only a skin you won with it, I think it is only appropriate if you get 5 hours in the game with it considering you got kicked for not playing it.

Also please note that you can only rejoin the group once. If you get kicked again it is a permanent ban from it.

You have set the giveaway up wrong.

"You do not have permission to view this giveaway, since you are not a member of the required Steam groups."

Which means you have picked the wrong group off the list from the looks of it. I can't see what you have picked, but if it was PA I should be able to see the giveaway.

Option 1 - I won Kona a few years ago. (COVID time makes it seem even longer.) I've been looking at different games to play and realize I didn't play this one. Going to start it soon. If that one is too short, I'll look at another one after this.

Well, hello guys!^з^
I'm pretty interested in becoming a member of this community but I have a problem...
I've won only two games from SG, but one of 'em isn't very interesting for me (I've won it at the very beginning when it wasn't too clear for me that I must enter the giveaways only for me and not for someone else) and the other is for 64x Windows (I have 86x installed now, 64x isn't an option for me right now, but I'm still interested in many 64x games, it's just I'll play 'em later down the line when my PC become more powerful).
Can I play something else from my library (there's enough games I haven't started yet) to show my commitment?
Or I need to play ONLY the games from SG?
Also in the rules is stated that I need to PLAY the game, but in some comments I can see something about BEATING the game.
Can someone clarify this issue for me?^^
Thanks in advance!!

Hi DanteFromHell

Can I play something else from my library (there's enough games I haven't started yet) to show my commitment? Or I need to play ONLY the games from SG?

The option to play something from their library is only available to people who have either

1) not worn anything on SG yet

2) played all their wins already

Neither of which is the case for you here. I can understand that you can't play Winter's Ankh, but there is nothing wrong with Ultimate Solid other than you not wanting to play it.

You have 3 options here:

1) Play Ultimate Solid

2) Wait till you win something else

3) Join with option 2

I would also just like to point out here that "my PC can't run XY game" is not a valid excuse not to play your group wins and you will get kicked for it (unless there is actually something wrong with the game itself). If your PC provides some limitations when it comes to playing games is on you to research if a certain game works before joining a group giveaway for it.

Also in the rules is stated that I need to PLAY the game, but in some comments I can see something about BEATING the game.
Can someone clarify this issue for me?^^

You have the play and finish the game (aka beat the game).

I don't really agree on the pre-last part (about "if your PC can't run it than do not join the giveaway") 'cause If I want to have a game to play it later down the line why can't I have it from the giveaway? It sounds like a discrimination of sorts.
Also I don't get the last part. Again, the RULES telling to PLAY the game to be a part of the group, but now you're saying that I should COMPLETE the game, in the span of one month.
Other than that I'm agree and already installing Ultimate Solid to my PC. We'll see if it will run at all))

The group rules state you need to play the game within a month of winning it. If you can't play it in that time for whatever reason including your PC cant run it you should not be entering the giveaway for it. It is a simple as that.

Again, the RULES telling to PLAY the game to be a part of the group, but now you're saying that I should COMPLETE the game, in the span of one month.

You need to beat the game. It has been the same for everyone since the option was added.

Also I would like to remind you that you are the one who is asking to join the group not the other way around. The rules are the same for everyone and I have no intention to change them for you or anyone else. If you are not happy with something you can just say you don't want to join.

You've won.

Yes, I won by figuring out with what kind of person I am dealing with before I letting them join the group. You are not a kind of person I want inside of the group and you are not welcome to join.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

oh, and what kind of person am I?
Also WHERE's exactly that passage in the rules that states about your personal opinion could affect who to accept in group?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I will keep my thoughts and opinions about what kind of person you are to myself.

Considering I am the group owner I think I can reserve myself the rights to decline anyone who I don't think is a good fit for the group. It is something I avoid doing and doesn't happen often, but this time it was definitely the right call to do so. Being able to join a Steam group is a perk and not something everyone is entitled to.

That said I am done discussing the matter. You are not welcome to join and it will stay this way. You won't receive any further answers from me.
