Are Steam legally required to offer a refund? In some countries yeah.

Are they going to grant one? Never. :)

False. They say that to try to get you to not because of the sheer overload of tickets they get. They'll approve any and all fair refund requests. Be firm but polite.

Yep they grant. one of my friends purchased a 4 pack of this game that i dont remember the name now, with blocks and that things like counter strike (not guncraft) and he asked for a refund because it was so bad... and they refunded the game to HIM(the buyer) and removed the game of our accounts.

Received a game as a gift from a friend, wants a refund. Oh some of the idiots living on this planet, just too painful to watch this kind of idiocy.

well.. if is not a key and was purchased in steam they can get one, but they will give the money to the buyer, not to him.

I assumed that he expected to get the refund for himself, if he indeed meant that he wished his friend to get the refund, then I apologize for my remark and he is free to call me an idiotic asshole. But I've seen alot of times how a person who received something for free and then tried to get a refund off it for himself, so I usually assume it is the intent of the refund in such case of scenario.

Because you can't be upset about someone spending money on you and it ends up being total shit? It sounds totally reasonable to me. The game's performance is dreadful.

He said his PC can't handle it. So unless he never plans on upgrading his PC, why remove it from the library? Also his friend might say it is OK, but I know I would feel bad if I gave a game to my friend and he hates it so much that he wants a refund for it. It is short sighted.

E: And all games nowadays have bad performance during release, look at Arkham Origins. That's not a good enough reason to ask for a refund for a game he didn't spend a cent on.

you will not get a refund because your computer doesn't run it, the minimim reqs are always on the game sale page....

Computer not running a game does not mean it does not meet minimum specs.

By the way, I do believe Steam will give refunds within reason.

not true, for DNF, The WarZ, Towns. . . and a few other cases they have offered refunds. There just needs to be a valid reason.

PS Towns became a good game later on.

You have to ask the guy who gave it to you to ask for the refund, not you, they won't refund you.

IIRC Steam Support grants ONE refund per account if you are lucky. Might be an old and changed policy, because it was never an actual policy, just luck.

Actually you can, but the gifter (his friend) will get the refund back in steam wallet. But ... this is best done when your friend gifted a region locked or language locked game ...

But at least 90% of those were purchases of console versions. This is a case of shit PC port, so the consoles probably didn't have as bad of a time.

if you want to increase your chances of refund, make your friend to the request to remove the game from your account and get a refund, im sure you will gain chances if hedoes it instead of you.
