Hello everyone, I am writing this post because I had a problem with a member of steamgifts.

A week ago I created my first gift to give, "Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP" in particular, once I saw the winner of added steam, and after a few days he did not answer I sent him the key to email. This user has ever answered me and does not accept my friendship, I saw, however, that registered the game on his profile, he does not want to give me positive feedback, I've already put in my present state "gift sent" but after a week where it said "awaiting the gift of" the state is spent on "gift not received" ... Right now I requested a new winner, but I do not know what else to do, this user does not answer, and also if you receive another winner, I do not know if the code was actually activated or not.

I wish someone would help me to solve this problem, I do not like when people behave in this manner.

Thanks in advance

Tell the support about the problem but they won't reroll becuase it's a key giveaway (and the key is also already activated)..

Just wait when you already sent a support ticket. The winner also hasn't activated one of his wins, so you can report this too.

BTW remove the link to his profile.

Contact support. They have a lot of work and it's Christmas so give them some time. They're doing great job in their spare time. Also, let them know he didn't activate one of previously won games (Splice).

Oh, and before some retard will appear with 'no calling-out' crap, a message for that particular person: Suck it. If people won't be aware there are assholes they have to look out for, this community will turn into total mess.

And the community would also be total mess when everyone calls out everyone for breaking rules without evidence...

if he didn't activate Splice I would say that counts as evidence

Yeah, but most users call out other users without evidence (look at all these comments in giveaways), that's why there is the rule and there is no excuse for breaking it.

Well it would help if there was some kind of plan on the part of the support staff to help curtail fake giveaways. Like require new users to fill out a form and answer some questions in English to make sure that they understand the workings of the site before they are able to create any giveaways of their own. Maybe combine that with an initial waiting period of 30 days for new accounts before they can create any giveaways as well. I think those 2 things combined would go a long way towards not seeing a large percentage of 'big' AAA game giveaways being false. Personally, I probably have at least a 95% success rate of being able to spot them, despite a lack of conclusive evidence in most cases.

True but irrelevant to my post, anyone can check if the games are activated or not as long the profile is not private. And if it is - there's nothing to report.

I know but the rule is there because else everyone could accuse everyone for breaking rules (look at the comments in the War Z giveaways). People believe what other people say, when someome calls out someone without evidence other people are going to report that person without even looking if he actually broke rules. The rule is sometimes (like in this case) a bit stupid but there is still no excuse for breaking the rule (especially when other people can see this).

Plus the OP isn't explicitly calling out the person anyway - they haven't linked their profile anywhere which I would say is calling out whereas you being proactive and going to the OP's profile then the giveaway then the person's profile I'd say isn't calling out...

And to the OP: If it is registered on their account, then don't request new winner. Go to Support and (if possible) give them screenshots of you sending the gift/key and support should be able to sort it out for you.

My thoughts exactly, but I remember one of topics like this in last few weeks where at least two guys were saying it's still calling out since you can check the winner on OP's profile. I find this concept very disturbing and the message was for people who'd be able to come up with something like this again.

That's a bit stupid really - it's just taking the 'no calling out' rule too far, because that means that people can't ask for help in the forums for something that they haven't taken to support.

I feel bad for you. The only thing you can do is contact support, I'm afraid.

I think we need a new way to giveaway codes, my idea is to input the code during the giveaway, once the giveaway ends, it sends the winner the code on their winner page.(Like the developer giveaways) and automatically marks it as received. I don't really see a flaw in this myself.

I think the site should be more biased to the gifter than the winner.

well, with seeing all those fake giveaways and people trying to exploit the system...

there is already a method: directly contacting through steam, if no answer -> no key -> reroll

personally I wouldn't mind the idea here, but marking as 'not received' must still be possible for wrong codes, but would also lead to the same situation with malicious users

In your current state, your best bet is to file a support ticket, explaining the situation. Personally, I'll never send a key via email. I always request to be added in steam and only give it away in chat. If they can't bother to respond to my friend request, I'll gladly request a reroll after a week.
