Everquest is now on steam.

Why?

Why not everquest 2 which still has some sort of support for the game.

Everquest was release in 1999.

Maybe they are trying to get some money with their old game before trying with their newest.

They have it listed as free to play. And personally I got everquest 2 for free when it came out. Dont think they have microtransactions either.

You can still build up "brand loyalty" or get some free advertisement and maybe suck in a few more people to move on to EQ2/3 w.e.

Yeah I guess they may snag a few, they were the leading mmo until wow. But they havent really upgraded much so I dont think they will suck up too many.
