Not gonna buy it because price was increased substantially in my region 🤷

What a nice price! Even makes the expensive Fanatical BYOB's even more worthless.

How the mighty have fallen. Humble seems to quite literally be the only reasonable choice at these times.

Yes, Humble Bundle that's selling a 7 game room escape bundle while 3? games are currently unavailable... they did their falling really well too.

Most of the time*. Humble itself isn't nowhere as good as it used to be.

Great price, but for base game owners are any of these DLCs essential?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, you can play through the base game just fine without feeling like you're missing out on anything.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope, base game is 100% emough. The only DLC that might influence gameplay is the one with the dog, which makes the game worse (unless you feel lonely playing it, then the dog might make it more enjoyable)

4€ for Royal Edition? Iam in. Thats great price for game/s. Thats what iam able to pay, not 40 60 80 120€ and other absurd prices for ONE game.

Some people think that a game, developed by hundreds of people for 5 years, and offering 100 hours of fun an excitement, shouldn't cost more than one beer in a pub...

It simply not worth to me. Am one from ppl who spend XYk on car mods but will not pay 40€ for a game :D

It's also a lot easier to wait out a game getting cheaper, if you have other games / hobbies to pass the time.

I absolutely think BG3 worth 60€, but I'm not sure when I'd play it, so I can just wait getting it, and saving some money in the meanwhile

Looks like the DLCs aren't getting rave reviews. Anyone have any experience with them?

Band of bastards and Amorous adventures with Hans Capon are the most fun DLC. Woman's lot is the biggest one, but undoubtedly hated because it's very easy to trigger and you can't 'exit' the DLC until you fully complete it. It's not a bad DLC but it rips you out of the main game until you complete everything it has to offer.

The rest are nothing noteworthy. Treasures of the past is just an armor set, and From the ashes is about rebuilding a town.. but ultimately you don't do anything and just put money in the donation box and watch the town prosper by itself. It's a mid or end game DLC when you have a lot of money to waste, and honestly there's not much to spend on in KCD.

dang i just bought this a couple months ago on summer sale for $8.50 for royal edition. so im sad its now only 3.99

wont lie the game felt so bad to me. for how popular it is i wasnt expecting the movement and combat in it to feel clunky..... it just feels like the controls are slow, i was expecting flawless movement and combat like from elder scrolls or fallout games

I tried 3 times, first 2 I quit after first fight with that drunk old man, after that all my coworkers were telling my how awesome is the game and how realistic is the game, so I said to me....come one.....I cannot be so weak to not be able to play this, so I finish the game but I didn't had the DLC, so for me was insta buy for DLC's.

Watch some youtube tutorials and give it one more try, this game is really good :)

This game heavily simulates your character, who has zero combat experience. So you need to do those training courses to actually get better movement and such.

It seems you skipped the training with Captain Bernard and instead decided to take on people straight away. This isn't Witcher 3 where you click the mouse button and watch Geralt tear everyone to pieces

I can agree the combat feels different, but it is also the biggest selling point. Your character isn't a hero, he's just an illiterate blacksmith's kid that has never held a sword before

Decided to try the free weekend. Have tried the game once before on game pass. Couldn't make it any farther this time. Hate the combat. It's just awful. Shame, because that's really a great price, but, it's just unplayable for me. :(

Did you reach the part where you get a combat tutorial and basic training? You aren't meant to be a pro soldier at the start and you won't become one right after training, but it's a big help. I think it was a few hours into the game, assuming you don't get too sidetracked with exploring.

I did the basic training part at least, but, unless combat changes entirely later on, I had no interest in the combat design.

Each time you unlock the training option, your character gets better and smoother. It's heavy on the "you never picked up a weapon before" type of game.

Yeah, it's definitely not a game for me. Enemies blocking every attack, having to hold the sword a certain direction etc., and needing to perfect counter or whatever. I looked at a tutorial on youtube, and it made me certain I will never enjoy the combat in the game.

Wait aren´t souls players supposed to be the elite among gamers who enjoy the suffering of endless death while learning how to beat an enemy and looking down on us folks who just want to have fun?

Learning the combat system in this game is childs play compared to souls games.
Not saying that it did not have flaws but your mentioned points are not among them.

I'm definitely not a souls expert :P I use summons and cheese when I get stuck, which happens often. Even then some fights take a big helping of luck. But souls combat is still much more fun for me than this, until I hit a boss that kills me 50x in a row. I just do not like the combat in kcd, and that isn't just for tough bosses, it would be for every single fight. If I thought there was any chance I could push through it, I'd try.

Even if i dislike the combat in KCD in some parts myself (especially when fighting battles and/or multiple foes) i absolutely loved the game.

Maybe give the next installment a chance then, the devs have listend to the community and the fencing stile will still be used with swords but with axes and maces it will be bashing and hacking without worrying about weapon position. So there are options in the next game for a wider playstyle spectrum.

This, AND don't buy bundles (esp. fanatical BOYB) unless the total discount is at least 90%.
Actually I should probably stop buying games altogether at this point. That, or stop worrying about them inevitably getting cheaper with time. Cheapskate's life is so hard! ;p

Haha, I'm eying the Monster Hunter BYOB because $20 for the game + DLCs is a steal but I have a feeling we'll get a complete Capcom bundle for $30 in 2-3 months. And I won't play them immediately anyway but that deal is tempting.
My backlog is also screaming like please play me first :D

Ever since the regional pricing changes, I haven't bought a full priced game since 2023. Either it's 80-90% off or Humble bundles or else I'm not buying it

Yep. Things are more expensive and there aren't many regional prices for AAA games anyway so might as well wait.
