I agree with OP. I also think there should be zero tolerance on fake giveaways.

I hate fake giveaways more than key giveaways. But I don't second your notion cause that will lock out quite a bunch that can give but don't have friends in steamgifts.

Just get rid of contributor giveaways altogether and there'll be no incentive to cheat the system.

Description: Everyone respects Moderators because it's a very intelligent race. They are known for being helpful and strong in all situations. Moderators are using their intelligence to strike dumb enemies down, if the enemy is very dumb Moderators use Hammers to strike them down for limited/unlimited time.

Skills:

1. Help - ability to answer question in Support section.
2. Final word - ability to close giveaways if they're reported and/or if the creator asks for it.
3. Watchful - ability to see if the creator of the giveaway has the game in his/her inventory.
4. Resurrection - ability to give a second chance to an enemy that was suspended/banned by bringing them back to life.

Weapons:

1. Ban Hammer - weapon that can ban a user for breaking the rules. [Moderators use this Hammer when there is no other option, most powerful Hammer in the whole SG universe.]
2. Suspension Hammer - weapon that can suspend a user for breaking the rules. [A weaker version of the Ban Hammer but still very powerful.]

Well I didn't get invited in, I just found the site out from steamgamesales really, and decided to give it a try one random day.

You'd lose potential new contributors by making registration invitation only.

Not allowing new users to create giveaways for a month sounds like a good start, most of them are doing it on accident. They need a chance to learn the system.

I don't have friends, because I don't want "steam friends". So, I would never be able to join this site.
