Well I entered The Ship as many as I can, and despite it being deemed as 'commonly owned' game yet I fail to grab one so far lol.

They sell bundles of games. You're looking at the wrong sale; look at this one:

...choose any three games (or more if you want, though you'll have to pay more) and pay as low as $1 total for them. Space Traders: Merchant Marine is a bonus game, so you'll get it in addition to those three regardless of what you choose.

You can get the game you want for $1. Just pick the three with cards (Post Apocalyptic Mayhem, Stellar Impact and Trapped Dead), farm those to get most of the cash back. Dump the rest of the keys if you wish.

The point is, you get Space Trader for free if you buy anything from that bundle.

You have to buy at least three, but that only costs you $1 total, so from your perspective, if you only care about Space Traders it's like buying Space Traders for $1 and getting some extra games for free. (You also get all the other bonus games in the process.)

EDIT: Although I guess it's a moot point now that you've won it. But anyway, you should know how it works!

If you try to redeem a code for a game you already own, it will say "you already own [game name]", regardless of whether the code has been used before or not.

I dunno why this game gets so much hate, I've clocked 30+ hours in this game and its one of my most memorable games.

Sure the graphics suck and the stories pretty generic, but the trading system is solid, reminds me Drug Wars from back in the day.

It also has a pretty cool open world mechanic.

The difficulty level scales as well, if you want more of a challenge, harder missions are available (and then theres the PAR achievement, which I think was unintentionally made to be super hard)
