i prefer to buy games on steam and play them when\if i can,i no like to need run play a game because is on "rent" and For me it to much expensive ;( so i can't afford because my dad died and my mom sick and i must pay\take care all expensive so not have money for me.
BUT i agree with you about it's a good deal\quality gamesi , i got it many times when is at 1€ deal by doing xbox rewards (microsoft give me 10€ after 1 month i do it) so i use tht then for get xbox game pass by waiit 1 euro deal,and sometimes they disable this to "old users" enable only for "new registered users" but i make second account with points already so is okay too haha.
XGP have some nice games,and most important\useful for me is that it's a way for try new games and decide if i wishlist it (For buy them when\if i have money) or not in steam (Recently not all games have Demos)
Also i must say Pshyconauts 2 it's very incredible quality,for how much little time it has been created,the game has some incredible visual details too (airs bubbles in paper slide whiteboard,reflections in eyes sunglasses etc.)
This said i very don't like that the Consoles Stores (All nintendo,playstation,xbox) don't have ignore button + filters... this for me really destroy my user experience because in consoles i'm vorced to see a lot of games i'm not interested to see because maybe i see them already or it's not my taste etc.,and this is the reason number one why i love use steam instead,steam for me is not only a store but it's also a "Tool" for keep track of new games i like or not in a PERFECT way.
Also these stores miss the feature for NOT SEE\HIDDEN the games already owned too,this also broken the user experience in buy games in consoles stores...
But OK i fix this by just buy only SOME Exclusives (not all) that i like in consoles and by copy&paste the wishllist of my steam to the consoles.. so i never use their store for browse only i go to my wishlist in consoles and see if have deals for games i want.
And i love so much hide feature at SG too it's very helpful to me
The only thing i think STEAM miss is:
1) Option for DELETE items in inventory (i havee lot of "Artifact Ticket" "Pubg items" that is not tradable not marketable and i don't like have them and there is no way to delete it,it's very frustrating annoyng for me to see
2) Option for add a NOTE write text in the page a game (i know this can be done with chrome addons but would be better if steam allow do it without third party apps).
i also think that Consoles in the past has reason to exist because PC new hardware it's released slowly and so buy a console have sense because will grant you to play 5-8 years with it...
BUT now that PC release new cpus\gpus more frequently every little months ,
and so the consoles business has been upgraded to follow this path too by release a new console every 2 years and maybe soon less than this too,consoles lose reason to exist for me,because if i must pay500€ every 2 years for buy a new console so i just upgrade my pc...
in my opinion the only way to fix this would be that consoles creator create a sort of rent service (same xbox cloud stream or same xbox all access) but right now these 2 fails because 1) Need high speed internet and have delay\lag problems and 2) it's expensive right now and it's not upgraded with new consoles sometimes...
They must find a way to give both at lower prices and with the latest hardwares if want be competitive in future (Playstation,Nintendo,Xbox) , because maybe in future google and netflix release their consoles too or maybe others big china companies.

Second because i play videogames 40 years so i already ignored ALL games i not liked on steam hahaha (and i continue do it everyday hahaha) so my new releases page is PERFECT right now only show me games i can like or interested :D
In consoles viceversa because i can't apply these filters and can't ignore the games i'm forced to see all garbage LOL
And yes is true that steam releases has a lot of crap,but if you apply the right Filters for the games you like and you ignore the games that not work with the filters then you will have a good releases page

p.s. But have A Problem\Bug , games that is in Bundle\Pack can't hidden ;( Sadly and i ask many times to valve to fix this but until now they not fix,same can be said for add feature for delete inventory items.

i remember at the launch of Astroneer on Windows and on STEAM ibuy them,
then Steam version run 60FPS stable , Windows version around 15 fps.. this waas my first bad experience...
The second bad was about a game VERY BIG that i play for 1 year and i nearly finish it then the Saves was BROKEN...
But iF i had the STEAM version for sure can fix them with hex editor as i find on internet someone hackers release a guide how can do it... (but need the steam version)
But sadly the Windows version was not fixable because use another saves that broken in a different way and can't be fixed
That was enough for me to understand\decide where to buy future games 🤣
Anyway i think\believe the saves problem now can be fixed by activate the special windows10\11 "Files Cronology" feature by include the save folders in the onedrive or automatic backup to a second storage , that can enable people to go "back" in time and restore the old files (considering also the fact that most of time saves i'ts not so much big size")

Some Tips and Trick about Microsoft Rewards:
it's important to do it with your real IP (Not use VPN) and it's important that you earn only the points for your country,because if you earn more points for multiple countries (by switch ip) you will get banned (i try it already for you hahahaha , Microsoft do check about many things points earned in 1 month)
it's better if you do it by answer the questions SLOW (wait at least 10 seconds between one question and another) because if you answer to fast you could get a ban by be accused to use "macro" (also if you never use it in your life) , this is happen to me too.. i'm so fast to use pc mouse\keyboard then they think i use macro hahaha,but ok i fix this by send a VIDEO to the support team and show them that i do MS rewards by my hand 🤣
and it's important that you do it only with 1 Account (or 2 a max) if you do it with multiple accounts and\or hidden the ip you will get banned (i try it already for you this too hahahaha)
The Rewards must be Rendeemed by PhoneNumber Check (MS will send you a code on phone)
so hhm yeah if you do act like a bad guy then they block\blacklist your phone number so also if you create other accounts then you can't rendeem nothing..
