I won Faerie Solitaire from The Great Faerie Solitaire Giveaway, which had fewer entrants than copies given away. That's one of the degenerate cases.

I won Portal in a public giveaway...but I never received it.

Someone then took pity on me and gave me a private giveaway for Portal, where I was the only entrant. Then I finally got Portal.

Stick with it. I've entered just over 700 giveaways, and won 4. The first two weren't really impressive -- the first was a copy of The Ship, which includes a second giftable copy (making it sort of like a viral game). The second was a developer gimme, they had like 25,000 copies.

BUT! In one week, I got the number one game on my wish-list (Fallout 3), and another one that was pretty high (QUBE).

So, basically, it's totally random. Keep at it, you'll get something eventually. If nothing else, sign up for the developer gimme coming up in a day or so.
