So, what are you going to do after you leave? I heard alot of American troops have trouble getting good jobs after leaving the military unless you have some specialized skill like being a pilot or something.
I saw on Youtube an ex-Marine unarmed combat or something instructor working in 7-11.

2 year of fulltime fun and 10 years of hell.
Been there done that. One more ICT and I am out of SAF forever!
The 10 year reserve is f**king disruptive to your studies, work and family life.

Ah I see, I wish the united states had that, I would have done better coming out of highschool then straight to college. I didn't have the discipline and work ethic that I have now, and looking at today's teenagers, mandatory service obligations would help the US out quite a bit, but that's my honest opinion

Lol but i am not exactly looking forward to military service though because its 2 years wasted when u could have used the time to pursue a degree :/

In two years I'll have to serve the military as well. Same system as yours. Personally I thought the same since by the time I have a proper degree I'll be in my late twenties but I figured it would be better to attend and serve the country since what we learn may save lives in the future.

SG = Steam Gift Riiche, not stupid questions on my threads :D. I appreciate all the thanks that you all have given for my service, but honestly it's a job like everyone else, except we carry rifles and uses explosives. I didn't join for the praise or the money, but it hits home to see people still care about us. So thank you all !!!!

Was in the Army, got out. Last duty station was Okinawa, which was fantastic, except for the really shitty unit.

Finished my service last year after 5 years in my countrys defence force. Had the option to extend it for another 7 but wanted to pursue other interests. I was however extremely lucky to get the chance to serve overseas on a peacekeeping mission though.

I'm was just curious as to how many military members are on SG. I'm a combat engineer in the 4th Infantry Division. Two deployments...15 months Ramadi, Iraq and this last one that I got back in April in Badghis and Khandhar Province, Afghanistan. I didn't make this thread to flame other services, I worked with them all and other countries as well. Cheers!
P.S. I'm always looking for fun friends to play games with especially TF2, and if you quit TF2 well you know I can provide a nice home :D
