i don't belive that you want to be a nice guy and give smoething away..

It's not so much that than the fact that there are far too many people scavenging invite codes with the sole intention of grabbing as many free games as possible. It's not an attitude that I like to support when I know there are other people out there who have been relentlessly kind and generous and might enjoy a free game in recognition of their kindness and generosity. I can think of one or two on the GOG forums alone.

You can withdraw from giveaways you entered by going here and clicking all the "Remove Entry" links.
You can't withdraw giveaways you made. Your options are:

So you join the site, create a few giveaways 5 HOURS ago and because they aren't full of comments (Note, the giveaways are sorted by end time, so they'll gain lots more interest as they near their finish times) you want to withdraw them? Your choice but something tells you me you didn't think this through properly before you joined the site.

No problem, but I'm curious, why do you find the 3:1 ratio low? To be honest, that's far beyond my expectations, I would have anticipated a 100:1 ratio.

Well, I know that the system of invites in place is designed to ensuring that the majority of people who were granted access weren't just here to take, but also to give. and 3:1 didn't actually seem that bad at face value.
Realistically speaking, however, the vast majority of gifters-bidders have perhaps listed around one low-value gift for the sake of conscience, yet have bid on dozens. The only reason that many games don't get bid on is because they are sales titles that people have already purchased. And of course, there's no way of telling what the people who haven't commented have done, but I would guess that they haven't donated at all.
(By the way, I will openly admit that I neglected to comment on the two draws I entered, and they were already over by the time I found my way back to them - I couldn't find the link to list my entries until lunboks helped out).
If you look at the highly generous Deus Ex auction, there's a massive 1,320 bids (and no doubt rising) while there's only 237 current giveaways. I don't doubt that there are several giveaways from individual people (Synesthesia for example), reducing the number of donors even further.
I personally believe that this is much more telling of the current state of the users-to-gifts ratio than the actual number of gifts presented to date.

Honestly, while I see where you are coming from, I do not see your actions as helping the problem.
The only way to get more gifting to happen here is by acting selflessly and gifting. If everyone done what you just did and decide to withdraw their offerings because other people weren't doing it, then nobody would give anything away. The fact is, you're either here to give something back to the community, or you're here to complain about other people. one of these things you can control, the other you cannot.
Personally I do not care what others do, I am here to enter a few draws, and gift a few games, that's it. if I started to think about what everyone else was doing, my head would spin.

He gives out things for free out of sheer kindness, and all he wants in return is a little bit of that kindness back to him in the form of appreciation.
I don't think that's much to ask; specially when this website has members with like 340 entries and 4 comments.

except he didn't give out anything
to reiterate, I am a kind and generous person because I am pledging $1 million dollars to the cancer society.
oops, they didn't send me a letter asking for it, I am rescinding my gift and also I am still generous and awesome

What the OP meant is that he wants to gift games to people who can't afford them instead of the people who just want them because they're free. The so called "leechers", who are, most of the time, ungrateful fucks.
And since the majority of the people who entered his giveaways were Leechers (didn't even take up time to write down "ty" on the comment section) he felt disgusted. It's like offering new toys for kids who can't afford them, and having fortunate children receiving them instead.

Your logic is very flawed. Please put thought on your words before spewing out shit.

You view the act of gifting as the only way to show you're thankful. When it's not the case since most people who give only expect a "thank you" from everyone who participates on their giveaways.
People here are ungrateful. In giveaways with over 1200 entries you only see 150 comments from people who bothered the slightest to type "Thanks for giving away things for us!" or even a simplistic "ty".
It's completely understandable that the Original Poster didn't feel like giving away things here anymore. He saw that people weren't appreciative of his actions, thus he decided not to give things over his expenses to these people (70% of this website).

No, I don't. But you specifically said (and so did he) that he wanted to gift games to people too poor to buy games for themselves. He then goes on to say he's disappointed by the ratio of gifters to non-gifters.
How does one know that the ratio of poor people to other folks isn't 3:1?

Most people here don't care about giving things. They also don't care about the people who give them. All they care about is the free shit they'll get, even though they could easily afford them, or even gift them.
People like these:
http://www.steamgifts.com/user/Fallout2x
http://www.steamgifts.com/user/JunkRating
http://www.steamgifts.com/user/desaluta
Sum up the whole site. People who can afford games don't give, or show appreciation towards givers.

Honestly I think what he is doing great, and I thak you OP for any giveaways you've started. I admit at times I don't post a thank you but I try to remember to do it as often as I can remember to. This site allows me to enjoy some of the things from steam that i wouldn't be able to get otherwise since I can rarely spend more than five dollars at any given time on a game and even then that hurts my wallet, let alone have the time to play them anymore, so thank you again good sir, and keep it up!

I know this is likely to make me the most hated person on the forum before I've even started, but here we go...
I signed up with the hope of being able to gift games to people who perhaps don't have the means to obtain them themselves. I admit that I was a little hasty in posting my giveaways, and I feel in retrospect that there are too many leechers for me to feel that giving my games away would actually genuinely give someone a little joy. A 3-to-1 entry/donator ratio is just too low for me and the lack of comments on the giveaways (even just some game-themed quote to show enthusiasm like on my DoW2 giveaway) is just disturbing.
With this in mind, I'd like to withdraw my giveaways and my entries for others' giveaways (as I don't feel it would be fair to benefit from the points I've invested in them).
Is this possible? Or should I simply indicate on the giveaways that they've been withdrawn and politely decline any gift in the unlikely event that I win a draw?
I should also mention at this point that I do appreciate what Cult and CG are trying to achieve here and I don't wish to degrade their hard work in any way.
