Hello everyone, I'm Elliott. Before we get into things, let me tell you a story! (you can skip over it if you'd like, but i recommend learning the history of the server's administration and community)

About three years ago, two players by the name of Issun and Zenox started a server and community called Vehicle Builders on Garry's Mod. This server featured nothing but a basic admin mod and the Garry's Mod necessities, but it's community is what made it thrive and grow to reach a peak of sixth best server of it's kind. However, VB was doomed to an ill fate; Zenox, pulled a coup d'état, claiming he had more rights to the group than Issun. His newly formed group, Concept Builders, took on some of the administrative staff and members that agreed with him. The community, however, saw Issun as a sort of Napoleon; a favored community member, Jazzy, formed Jazzy Gaming to restore Issun to his seat of power, if you will. Jazzy Gaming rapidly exceeded the size and quality of CB, which struggled for some time after the formation of Jazzy Gaming.

After the drama died down, Issun took the name of Paradox, and Zenox returned to a normal state and rejoined the group, quickly climbing to an administrative position in JG. However, JG's fate was as ill-fated as that of VB; Jazzy, whom after which the group was named after, was becoming increasingly inactive, was to be put out of power. Paradox and another member, Someone920, formed Ingenious Gaming. Ingenious Gaming excelled, being built of mostly the same community as JG with a surge of new recruits, but because of difficulties and a busy schedule, Paradox resigned and, upon leaving, took the name of Narwhals. iG soldiered on until Someone920 left it in control of other members who, sadly, have shaped it into somewhat of a weeaboo haven.

By now, however, Narwhals goes by his simple first name of Gerhard and I've come into the picture. Reminiscent of VB, we wanted something along the lines where the server shone and stood out, but was supported largely by it's community. We didn't want a strict dictatorship, but we didn't want anarchy, either. From there, we formulated Dranken Bustards, a group aimed at capturing the original spirit of VB and of Garry's Mod, where the aim is to build, not to sit idly in front of a YouTube screen or to constantly paste and plagiarize publicly available creations. We wanted a mature, controlled environment where people have the freedom to be creative, while administrators have the power to cull the bad apples and rotten eggs from the masses.

You may ask, however, "What of the server today?" We've just very recently upgraded to a dedicated server rental, rather than renting slot servers. Along with that, in development now is a customized, privately-available admin mod. The fact that it's privately available allows us to code it to work specifically for us, giving us access to features and levels of efficiency not available in publicly available admin mods. Coded by the wonderful Spencer Hensel, avid designer of all sorts. His work can still be seen today; nearly all customized parts of the D3vine servers were custom-built by him. We also have a private Jukebox designed by him, which can both broadcast to the entire server or allow users to listen to songs on it privately.

Enough about the clockwork behind the community, though; I now bring you to the community. I won't lie to you; it's small. However, we want it to grow on the concept of having the freedom to build what you want, how you want it. We don't restrict props. We don't limit access to Wiremod features. We don't restrict access to features you would expect out of other servers, such as noclip. Garry's Mod is a game, and we want to give you a place to play it. Our guests are treated with the respect of distinguished members, for they may very well become one some day. We give you the tools to create, and we simply ask that you use them with dignity.

So, how can you take part in this community?

Firstly, the obvious; join our build server! You can connect to it by adding 'drankenbustards.com:27016' to your favorites or connecting to it directly in your console.

Additionally, visit the steam group at http://steamcommunity.com/groups/drbu and feel free to join us!

We've also got a website at http://www.drankenbustards.com - Visit us there, too!

You can also add Gerhard and I as friends on steam:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/FACEPAWLM (Me)
http://steamcommunity.com/id/gethard (Gerhard)

Our build server is running on ULX currently, but our up-and-coming custom admin mod is days away from the public beta stage. We also feature a customized server jukebox with both client-side and server-wide modes of play, easily accessed by pressing F4 in-game.

That would be a great way of advertising ... give away 5 copies and add your advertisement in the description :D

Wow, so you're just cut/pasting this mediocre gmod community biography just about everywhere, aren't ya kiddo?

Well, I'm not going to individually type out the long history of our servers.

I just made this thread to get our name out there, nothing wrong with that, is there?

Given that you're copy-pasting a 5-paragraph essay to a forum that has little, if anything, to do with Gmod or Gmod servers...

I agree

Giving away a few copies of Gmod would
1)Show you're serious about it.
2) be a good chance to advertise (in the description)
3) make you seem nice.

This would actually be much better without all the back story, just a suggestion if you go copy paste it somewhere else.

Going to create a thread of my own. :P

I'm not sure on the rules on this but this doesn't seem like advertising as such, he is just informing us about something. It's like when I post a link to Escapists website, or if someone posts a link to a free game they found, this guy has a personal stake in the project/community/thing but it's not like he is set to gain financially.

So in other words - advertising.
I went trough the rules, seems like I didn't found any which would oppose such an activity. So creating a new thread before going to bed...

Wont get any complaints from me, I like seeing what other people on here get up to - when it's gaming related.

Part of it is. A big part, actually. Another big part is technology. And the small part is for everything else.
Already posted, by the way.
