I'm a girl and i've been using a 502 for more than half a year now, and find it extremely comfy. Maybe OP can go with his wife to a store that have them on display, so she can try it for herself.

I got one as well. I used it for like 2 years before it broke (and that was because of me being stupid...) and immediatly ordered a new one. They're great, especially for that price. Although I'm not sure if they're available everywhere. It might be a dutch brand, but I'm not sure.

I have a TT Talon Blu. Normally I don't go with "gaming mice", as you tend to pay premium for guff, but this one was actually one of the cheaper (not ultra cheapo) mice with back/forwards buttons in what I would deem a comfortable place, and it's not overly big. It's been quite good thus far, and you can turn off the annoying blue LED easily.

Just got a Logitech G303, upgraded from a Logitech G300. Still adjusting to the different shape, but overall, a great small and light mouse for fingertip or claw grip. I imagine it's also good for smaller hands.

I have a zelotes t-90 model 2016 (9200dpi)
There are a lot of reviews on youtube and blogs. A very affordable good gaming mouse.
Dimensions are: 130x82x40 mm
It is not a profesional mouse, but it is a good one.

Ohhhh yeah, I love that hahaha! Strikes close to home since I allow my pet mice to wander around my desk, seems theres always one that wants to take a break on top of the pc mouse ;)

I feel her pain, plus that I play on a laptop and my desk is so small that wires are an absolute no-no. I personally use an Asus WT425, it's tiny, comfortable, and silent. It doesn't have a lot of additional buttons, except one for switching DPI profiles and two buttons on the side (for back/forward in browsers and file browsing, but I'm pretty sure they can be reassigned). She might not like it because it's wireless though.
I got it for about $20 from a local store, but I found some online for $20-30, so it's not a huge difference.

Wow that is perfect for her birthday and on amazon is on pretty good deal https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Diamondback-Chroma-Ambidextrous-Gaming/dp/B015WCV6QM

Is your girlfriend right-handed? If so, here's another option: https://www.amazon.com/Razer-DeathAdder-Ergonomic-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00AAS888S (I use the 2013 version. Also, there's a left-handed one, but it's slightly more expensive.)

I use a Logitech Anywhere mx.
Small, cheap(~30 USD), responsive, a few extra bindable buttons, and no cord to get in the way.

I can confirm it is pretty small. iirc, it even works on glass and stuff.
Happy Cake day btw.

I'd say too that is one of the best mouse I have ever use in general. I went through at least 2 of these back in the days like 6-7+ years between each. So much mileage out of both until I switched to a mouse tailored more for gaming. The click wheel does worn off pretty fast for more than a year, is the only flaw.
I'm surprised I never seen and own that version with the side thumb buttons before. I'm sure they stopped making these mouse. This is what also eventually pushed me to upgrade to a gaming mouse when I needed a replacement.

I've used this mouse for the past 7 years.

It's working fine and I don't consider myself a scrub when it comes to playing.

I've owned Kone Pure Optical for a couple of years and I'm very satisfied (although I'm not a woman). It's comfortable, looks nice and is very durable minus the braided cable, which looks something like a long thin hairball after rubbing to the edge of my desk for a while. Speaking about Military, both mice seem to be identical considering size and shape. The difference between them is that Military can be used at 5000 dpi, while Optical can only cough reach 4000. Both sensors are optical. These mice are smaller than the laser version of Kone, which is why you might want to stay away from that.

My mistake. As for sensor, everyone has a different opinion. I'm used to optical and maybe I'm just imagining, but it feels more precise. Laser can achieve more dpi, so I imagine it'd be better on higher sensitivities/multi monitor setups. I also heard that the laser version of Kone has shorter lift off distance, which might be more comfortable for some gamers.
I'm not trying to argue which sensor is better, just saying that everyone can have their preference depending on their needs. Different versions are made for a reason.

Razer Diamondback would have been the one for me too (small-handed, ambidextrous, female) but too pricey.
Bought a Zombee GM-1 instead and despite it's quite big bulk it feels ok: you get a good grip of the top and doesn't strain your wrist. But still it does feel 'big' when you use it for longer periods so not ideal.
Probably buying something basic/small Logitech next.

Was going to recommend Steelseries since they have a few ambidextrous mice that aren't too large like the Kinzu (Sensei might be a little too big) but I've just had too many of their products go bad on me. My Sensei mouse's scroll wheel just sort of died and I wore out the ability to scroll down. Tried to get more life out of it by tweaking some Windows settings but it was shot. And I had the 6GV2 mechanical keyboard and the N and E keys, not sure why those went first, just sort of went bad on me too. They would either register a whole bunch of times from one press or they wouldn't register at all. If I'm paying between 50 and 100 bucks on a keyboard and mouse I expect to get more life out if that device than I've gotten out of 10 dollar keyboards from Walmart or no name brand gaming mice I've found on eBay. Razer always seemed kind of poorly made to me and cheap feeling but if I ever splurge on a gaming mouse again I would go with Razer instead of Steelseries.
Oh and maybe check out the R.A.T. 7 or something else from that series since that line is mostly adjustable in size.

I tested one out and wasn't wild about it but she may like it.
The RAT 7 is a little pricey. This thing is not. At all. It was 15 bucks and I'm still using it. Amazon is sold out but you might find something simlar. 15 bucks and it feels just as good as a name brand gaming mouse and hey, if she hates it, worse case is you're out the 15 dollars.

would recommend a R.A.T. as well, have been using the R.A.T. 5 for years now and it still works. and it´s cheaper than the 7.
