Do you need a list of all your comments?
Something about the lack of physical memory space to archive all comments if I remember correctly.

+1
Pretty much all of these "great" features unfortunately can't be handled by the host.

Exactly, and the "messages" page already saves all the replies you got.

Actually, not all - I can't see replies older than May 25, 2016. And I remember it was even more limited some time ago.

I am one of those people who would like to have full reply history. And comment history too, but I guess it's hard to implement at the current state. Or at least it won't be retroactive. Sometimes nice conversations appear or events happen and you can find interesting material in those threads/GAs by checking your replies. Of course better always to bookmark interesting information, but you never know.

So they could still show us a list of our recent comments, not all of them. I think that would not require much space.

Yes, I think so. It just will require some time and work to implement. Depending of how everything is organized already it can really vary in time up to "We need to redesign everything, so that comes in SG 3.0".
Actually, you need to save just 7 letters for comment and 5 letters for discussion/GA link and 1 more byte for type (discussion/GA). Let's say letter is encoded in UTF-8. Then,
(7+5)*8+1 = 97 bytes
(7+5)+1 = 13 bytes
At the moment there are approximately 44 millions comments:
100 bytes * 44 000 000 = 4 GB
13 bytes * 44 000 000 = ~500 MB
And if we are not going back in time the amount of data should be even lower (for the start). Doesn't look like a lot. But I really suppose that the problem is in database logic and/or performance it will need to record such labels each time the comment is posted. Hm, does it make any sense? I never worked with actual databases.

Since we don't know how the "messages" work, we can't make make meaning numbers.
But if you look at the Permalink link for this comment.
https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/uEN21qx
It only got 7 unique characters. 7 characters are 7 bytes for each comment, and everything else(like discussion name) can be generated later.
But we don't know how much does "messages" save and how much it generates.

:D
I feel so dumb now >< Well, take it as a very approximate upper bound then.

See you say that but there's 1453 pages of discussions with comments stored in the database. I really don't see any reason this hasn't been implemented yet tbh

Wouldn't so much be physical memory as it would be a rather resource-wasteful process to get the required data from the database depending on how the database is currently organized. You really don't want to lock the entire database searching for all comments from 1 person in all threads whenever someone opens a comment page. (or imagine a 1000 people doing the same at the same time.)
Best guess: it's all about the current setup of the database(s) used. Rebuilding that from scratch to be more efficient would be....timeconsuming and easy to bug out when switching over.

^ This is not how websites work people. They do not save copies of the comments on a separate page for every user, it "calls" the existing comments onto a new page. Time consuming to script I'm sure.
Here's my workaround, if you REALLY need this: Every time you comment, save the page as a favorite in your browser, keep it in a seperate favorites folder designed just for this purpose to avoid clutter, and when you open one of the pages later use the CTRL+F (search) function to search for your username. (PC example).
Messy? Sure, but like I said: If you really need this for some special purpose other than nostalgia.

For all comments, I don't think it would be possible, since there wouldn't be memory enough to store all of that. But I would like to see my recent comments, either by date or number, for example, the past 6 months or the past 200 comments, or something like that.
Replies are already stored on a date basis, so I think that would be possible for comments as well.

Yes, already suggested.
And it would take 0 additionnal database space o_o...

We already have stats to view the number of comments you posted every month.
And we have a list to view all the replies on your own comments, comments on your threads and giveaways.
Since people love giveaways, here is a cheap train to bump this thread. And can you please leave your bumps under this comment, to keep everything clean and tidy.
