For how much longer can IGN keep up the good Choices before it's back to December or even July standards?

View Results
[Recurring subscription] Overall Iโ€™d say itโ€™s a pretty decent month, so letโ€™s not cancel this time, all right?
[New subscription] I was able to keep myself under control even when Control was featured last month, but I am unable to say no to this selection.
[Maybe subscribe] My first thought was that this bundle isnโ€™t stellar, but now I see that there are some interesting games featured. But are they interesting enough to pay this much?
[Pause] Definitely some "meh" games in here. Donโ€™t take it personally, Humble, but from a value perspective, itโ€™s not great...
[Cancel] I'm truly sick of headliner games without DLCs. Count me out, Humble.

noooooooooooooooooo

This is actually quite dissapointing... Some okay picks, but like F1 game? Hello 4 bundles this or next year...

but currently it's the latest f1 game, so it's a good deal if you're a fan

Only one wishlisted... and so many mixed rating games... might be the weakest monthly yet, for me anyway.
And I'm really easy to please. ;-)

It was just a troll leak, the games mentioned were way too good to be featured together in a Choice.

Have you already paid for the 6 months in advance? Then pausing should always be possible. You have this month that is paused just not the other benefits such as the discount in the store. Everything else should remain the same. I know it like this from the annual subscription.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, with the $6 special (for all titles), it's still payment month-to-month (at least, it is for me). But it was made clear that pausing would end that price. So with this being the 2nd to last month, it'd either be $12 for both April and May ($6 each) - or $19.99 (perhaps $12 or $14.99) for next month if paused now.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I see. That is of course inconvenient if you are not allowed to pause.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I assumed that it would work that way the offer in December. One month also cost 6 dollars, but you paid for the whole year. Pausing works perfectly.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It is inconvenient not being able to pause, but for me it was ok - was going to cancel anyway. Covid reduced income, plus a ridiculous back-log in games it was getting silly. So just thought - meh - $6 is nothing, lets get 6 months and say goodbye. I'd have paused a few times at $12, and certainly for $19.99 a few times, but for $6 they can just about through any crap out and would not be unhappy. It's been good. Your bonus is that you can lock-in in the $6 and still choose which to get.

Thats why I mostly ignore those "nice" discounts...
I bought Control some time ago and got it also on Playstation Plus and last month also on Humble bundle...
Few days ago I could not resist to witcher 3 GOTY for 10 euro and bought it... but who knows, when it will be in Humble bundle, Epic or somewhere else ...

More likely CDPR will chuck it out free on GOG as a goodwill exercise, either when The Witcher Season 2 launches or they need a marketing boost after the next inevitable Cyberpunk PR gaff.

where is metro exodus? where is the outer worlds? where is death stranding???

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They're most probably still selling fine so no need for the publisher(s) to get them in bundles. When their sales will be on the decline, maaaaaybe you'll see the standard edition of Metro Exodus and/or The Outer Worlds being bundled. And then you'll have to get the expansion pass to have the complete edition. ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

If you absolutely want to play The Outer Worlds, the base game is available on the Xbox game pass PC. If I'm not mistaken, you might still be able to sub for 3 months of Ultimate Game Pass for only a dollar.

I dont want to play, I WANT TO OWN.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nobody really owns games these days, arguably not even the people who buy physical. Instead, we get to own the licenses to play them for as long as the service stays open.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That is true. I do also understand the want to not have them on a monthly paying service. Say you can't afford one month or they take it off, you can no longer play. While it is true that Steam (or EGS, Bethesda, etc) could just revoke your license or account at any time, you're most likely going to only pay once for it and keep it for years.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's why I prefer having games on Steam, Uplay and the likes. You can access the games in your library anytime you want, while with a subscription service like Xbox game pass, the pool of titles available to play changes over time, games come and go. Unless you buy them from the Microsoft store, that is.

Now, for someone who's interested in playing The Outer Worlds right now... getting a 3-month subscription to Ultimate Game Pass for only $1 is one hell of a deal.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

True. And I would get the game pass but I don't have an xbox or a pc so unfortunately there's no way I could even play anything with it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Thank you for reminding me that. From now on im quitting buying these shits. I can use my money for better things. I canceled my subscription thanks again man!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Technically, even back in the offline days, we were only buying licenses to install and play the physical copies, but publishers had little to no ability to enforce end of life on software or against reselling it to another user.

Where do you see this price?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Ugh, terrible, but if I pause/cancel I will lose my $6 coupon. I guess that I'll be giving away the whole bundle this month sigh oh well. Last month made it worth it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Depends on when you started with your coupon and what kind of deal you have. I'm at 5 out of 6 months for the Classic plan, so it's effectively the same if I buy now and retain the coupon or pause lose it and buy the next one for the full $12 in case it's any better. I'm inclined to pause.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

True. I have the premium plan, though, so my non-coupon price is significantly higher ($20 I think).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Came here exactly for verifying this since I can't remember clearly and couldn't find any information on my plan managment on HB. So when we pause this bundle the next bundle won't be 6$ but 13$ (standard)? So by eating the bitter pill that is this month bundle, we still save on next month 1$.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's $12 if you're on Classic, and $20 if you're on Premium.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Like Vlad said, the non-coupon price depends on what plan you are enrolled in (I have premium) but regardless, if you pause you lose the coupon, yes. (or, at least, that's what I recall from when I initially signed up).
