It says they expire on 1/4/2016. This is the amarican date notation, so not 1 april but 4 january. I was confused about this first as well.

The cards will be unusable then. Best to cancel the trade and let him sell the cards.

No, it takes 7 days for the mobile app to work without on-hold trades. I've had the same problem.

yeah if you are not using for 7 days from app then you get 24hrs wait... i did that with my smurf acc... and got only 24hrs since i was not using it for 7 days

Depends if you're an active trader.

yeah but it is only fair to add this info before you tell someone he should "simple " cancel this trade

I expect people can read. When you go to your on-hold trades, there's a warning.

Based on at least two threads here and half a dozen on Steam itself, I'd say no, they cannot see the bright orange warning text right next to the cancel button. Even if it in their own language.

Expectations vs reality. They'll learn after a mistake or two. Or 288937382.

Go to your inventory and click on a christmas card and you will see expire date

It seems that Steam is trying to secure itself from its own users

What? They didn't buy anything from the platform and valve doesn't ban you for buying stuff. Not saying valve's great and they do nothing wrong, since they do block the items from trade for a while after buying it and have other big problems. But don't do what you mentioned.

We had alredy the "secure" option via email, this is bullshit, they want our mobile phones....

I didn't say that what they're doing is great, just that they don't trade ban you for buying stuff.

The sarcasm would only apply to the thanks, there's nothing sarcastic about the rest, but maybe you have heard of sarcasm but haven't bothered to learn what it actually is?

Miscommunication happens rather easily when you don't know what kind of intonations the person uses.

blame the people who use the same password for everything, in those cases the extra email step did nothing as they were still getting their accounts hijacked..

why didn't your friend just sell them.. it's .04 cent a card right now if you sell.. I'm sure the price will continually decrease after 12 o clock as the expiration dead line looms.. I'd cancel and have him sell them, unless he hasn't purchased enough in the store to sell them.. in which case, that stinks as they'll be worthless tomorrow after 1 p.m est.

I gotcha on that point and figured it was that, but he sent them a few hours too late, now the best bet is one of you guys cancel out the trade and have him sell whatever cards he sent. Otherwise, they'll just be lost to the valve graveyard in the sky with all the other holiday cards which don't sell or get used.
