For controlling Spotify. Mainly to see the song playing.

did you set the program path etc in the .ini file to fit your system?

you could also check the task manager if the process name fits and spotify is running.

the rainmeter addons are quite simple, so it might be not very hard to make it work

They are very easy to use indeed and there is no need to set the path.

Update broke the player and now it doesn't tell me which song is playing :(

there is a hardcoded path in lines 112 and 226.

is it only the display of songtitle that does not work?

The buttons work but no data is shown.

well, since i have no spotify i cannot test it myself.

you might want to look into http://docs.rainmeter.net/manual/plugins/windowmessage, thats is the way rainmeter gets the songtitle from spotify. perhaps you can make the adjustments to fit the current spotify version

also http://docs.rainmeter.net/manual/plugins/nowplaying could help and be an alternate method to access the songtitle

i set up a very simple rainmeter player using the "nowplaying" functionality

didn't test spotify, but another player, so hopefully spotify works, too.

code for the .ini is here, just replace the not-working one

currently color is black, but you can change it in the "variables" block

why don't you use the an older version of spotify? It seems it's due to the update. Grade down to version 9.x.

spotify auto updates itself. you need to follow the following steps to prevent the auto update:

Go to C:/Users/<Name>/Appdata/Roaming/Spotify

  1. Make a new empy text file

  2. Name it Spotify_new.exe

  3. Right click the file and make the file read only

  4. Make a new empty text file

  5. Name it Spotify_new.exe.sig

  6. Right click the file and make the file read only

I've found this somewhere in the spotify forums.
