We are nearing the end of these covid lockdowns in my country fortunately. Almost half of the population is vaccinated here, another 10% might have gone through the sickness, so our numbers are finally decreasing drastically. Good hopes for the summer :D
Thanks for the GA though.

I am getting my first dose on June 4th. Our current lock-down is supposed to end on June 4th-or 5th. It will be nice when I throw my freaking mask away. Sooooo tired of wearing it.

I went with Pfizer, could easily choose Johnson, Astra/Zeneka and Moderna too. Gonna get second dose on 06.06.2021.

Same here! We also don't have that much choice either, mainly Sinovac and Astra.

Even vaccinated people are advised to wear masks.

  1. Vaccines don't provide 100% protection, they just reduce infection strength and duration so it's no longer health-threatening - you can still get sick and infect others. Of course there is also higher chance of defeating infection before you get actually sick, but it's not a guarantee.
  2. Not everyone gains "immunity" after being infected - some people have no antibodies month after being sick or vaccinated, we still don't know why.
  3. Some of the newer mutations bypass immunity gained through recent vaccines - this is why it's important to maintain full protective measures until number of new cases falls almost to none. New mutations tend to be more aggressive and destructive, they infect more people faster and present higher risk of death or serious complications. More infections = more chances for mutation.
  4. If there are laws regarding wearing masks enforced in your country, not wearing masks may be problematic to police officers and other personnel responsible for enforcing them. They'll have to check both vaccinated and not vaccinated people without masks adding a lot of unnecessary work and it may result in additional conflicts.
  5. Not vaccinated people may confuse dwindling numbers of masks seen in public for laws getting more lenient which may result in them stopping wearing masks because "nobody wears them so I won't wear them too" which is counterproductive in battle with pandemic.

Updated! I actually wrote "please still wear your masks at all times" at first but thought it was too much to ask for XD
