Hello. I have been playing Hades the past few days and have been enjoying it a lot more than I expected. I was looking forward to completing it but recently I have been experiencing pain in my palms and fingers. I'll be seeing a doctor soon but in the meantime I was advised not to overexert my hands lest I damage it further in case the pain is caused by straining my hands. I'm quite bummed that I can't continue playing Hades for the moment but I decided I'll just play other games in the meantime.

TL;DR: I'm looking for singleplayer games that don't require extensive hand/finger movements. Games that I already own are preferable, but I am open to buying new games in the current sale if there are good recommendations. :) Games that aren't currently on sale are welcome as well, since I'm always searching for new games to look out for.

I'll just list some qualities to make it easier since I think "doesn't require much hand movement" might be pretty vague.

Good:

  • Already own/currently on sale (not a requirement, however. It's just a plus for me ^^)
  • Controller support (It's easier for me to hold a controller than the mouse for an extended period)

Might be difficult for me:

  • Requires a lot of clicking and/or mouse movement
  • Time-sensitive (I have to rest my hands every once in a while)

Here is an offering to thank you for your time.

Thanks to everyone in advance. ^^

Of course, any turn based game comes to mind. Also, you could try point&click adventures as they are not time-sensitive. But the downside is that most point&click adventures require that you use a mouse.

Looking through your unplayed games, I see the following:

If you are okay using a controller, you could try Enslaved, since it's a cool action adventure. But of course, that means that it might be a bit too time-sensitive. Same goes of course for basicly any racing game.

Speaking of slow games, you could try Drakensang. It's similar to Dragon Age: Origins, so it's a tactical RPG with pauseable real-time combat (so it's basicly turn-based). It's generally a kind of slow game, so there is really no hurry.

Armello is a boardgame you can play with your controller, it's multiplayer, it's fun, and you can collect dices and sell them on steam market if you like that sort of things xD

As you can play at your own pace, I would recommend it for your hand.

Any game actually that have those features could help, like visuel novels for example that can help pass the time and will not be overdemanding for your hands nwn

Or Human Ressource Machine maybe, because it's a puzzle game, you don't have to be quick ;3

Both Human Ressource Machine and Armello are on sale right now ;3

I understand your pain, as I also have my hand these days that needs rest, but I also understand your need for videogames, cause It diverts me from my pain and makes it easier to forget you are injured.
Just, be careful and play the right games ;3

Games with strategic elements are maybe your best bet. You have Darkest Dungeon, Disagea, Fell Seal, XCOM e Factorio. Avoid action games for a while.

FIRST OF ALL - get an orthopaedic wrist brace. I have a pair and sometimes I need them. Get your mouse sensitivity much lower and use your whole arm to move the cursor.

I think The Walking Dead: A New Frontier or The Walking Dead: Michonne could be a good option and you already have them

Like many already said, adventure games (especially point and click) are a great option in this case because require some thinking and a limited amount of clicks, and timing is often not important; you seems to already like the genre too! And other great options are turn-base strategy games, including card games, but also visual novels, some platformers, sims, and of course racing games.

I also second whoever is suggesting you to swap the mouse hand from time to time: I had (have) your same problem on my right hand, so I trained my left hand to use the mouse. It wasn't easy at first, but it wasn't particularly hard either, and in fact I now normally use the mouse on my left hand for job, web surfing, Photoshop, and lots of games where I don't need to aim, so pretty much all the genres included (TBS, P&C, etc). Just don't overdue, or you may extend your pain to your secondary arm too; it's important to relax and do some stretching from time to time, avoiding low temperatures.

From your library I could play tons of games, but it's hard to say what you like and what you don't. Few examples:
Etherlords
Spore
Tropico
Armello
Fallen Enchantress
Never Alone
My first trip to Japan
Rime
King's Bounty
Hitman (depending if you like to explore and plan your moves)
and so on...

I would sort your library for said genres and look for stuff you may enjoy, or search online for game that can be played with just one hand. (Also, try to binge-watch a few good shows!)

Not sure what you think about interactive novel games,
but those are usually mostly reading and just a little bit of clicking
or some have keyboard only support.

Here is a few that I suggest:
Affairs of the Court: Choice of Romance
Omen Exitio: Plague
An Assassin in Orlandes
Choice of the Vampire

Few of my favorites :)
