Hey.
I'm not a web designer but I have to say that I like the website, it's very colorful and easy to navigate.
I think the skeleton of the website is there, all you need now is the content: text, images and perhaps some videos of the animals. I think it would also help if you have a small story for each animal you rescue.
Good luck!

I like the idea, but for me the colors are a bit off. For a animal rescue website, and while you want people to think it's cute, you should use bright colors instead of dark colors, like sky blue and light purple. But then blue and purple are hard to combine, so I think you should pick another pairs.
And for any stuff related to animals, images are what important. People will like it better if you have plenty of cute animals that are temporarily staying there, and people will also give their sympathy for animals that are in trouble. I think you should really consider that.

Yes, there will be animals, I'm just waiting for my friend to send me something. :)
The colors were picked with schemes so they aren't exactly "off", they just don't feel right with the topic.
You're right about that I should go with something brighter, I will experiment with it later.
Thank you very much for your advice!

You could try using pastel colors. I find a little subtle color variation goes a long way. Otherwise, I think you've done a good job - it's clean and easy to navigate, well done! For the cute animals!

Can u please also check input format of some questions for multiple answers?

I added multiple answers for a lot of questions. There will be some hints in ~10 hours, but I can't edit them anymore. I might help you guys out with some hints tomorrow if it proves to be too hard.
Honestly, it's nothing what you can't google or find on the website(s) of mine.

Im getting crazy on input format of 3 and 12. Thanks anyway!
EdiT: #3 should really allow not only that answer :D

Got it, but the answer is wrong! Like REALLY wrong!

I like the current childhood-oriented design, it's simple, nice, and it's appealing to the sensitive side of people, which is good when talking about animal care...
I'm on the code-side, so it's best for everybody if I don't try to draw or design anything from an esthetic point of view :)
Stuck on Q6 and Q10, solved the others, will wait for hints :)

Thanks for the hint, I was in the good direction but it helped, Q6 solved. Still no idea for Q10, maybe because I didn't play the game yet. Will try again tomorrow !

Stuck on 10 and 14...even with the hint from 10 :(
EDIT: NVM!, got 10 finally. had to carefully read hint and subtle hint in question to solve it :P
Only 14 left and my google skills now are lacking, that or im just typing in the wrong combo :/

One to find the answers, and in the darkness bind them?
Only 1 word as well, I take it?
I see...thank you ^^
Or...not. I've tried everything 0_o
There has to be something I'm missing...

Aaand Solved. Thank you for the puzzle. ^^
As for the website, I do have a couple of ideas..
well, pictures of the animals are always a good idea. Though that stage might still be a bit early.
The contacts tab should have the shelter's address and phone number, as well as one of those email fields.
Maybe you can have a odd assortment of the animals doing cute things under the "other" tab?
Like, under the pets tab it just has like a profile sort of thing (picture of pet, little blurb about him, medical information, ect), and under the "other" tab there could be a picture of a bunch of kittens sleeping together.
I don't have any other suggestions I'm afraid; web design isn't quite my forte.
I wish your friend all the best - I love animals, especially cats, and I don't like to see them without a home.

Which one, the one about the animal rescue? done. the one on your steam profile from ask.something? done. The accounts you have on flickr, imgur, minershoes or okcupid? done. i've tried combos of descriptions of all those sites :P
EDIT: did some more intensive google searches on some other "nicks" of yours and finally got there!
w00t...
feel like a bit of a stalker now, sorry :(

I have just started a webhosting company and am looking for sites like this to host for free (in return for reporting any issues you have.)
I'd added you (Steam UN: ChickenHugga) if you're interested.

I'm stuck on Q12, I tried a lot of combinations and none worked. I tried the name of the game in the game and the name of the game it is inspired from, using only the two main words of the name, but it didn't work. And I'm pretty sure I have the right game...

As a professional web-designer, I could say this looks like from 2002. Colors are badly picked, typography is bad too, and the site is waaaay too simple + these corners burn my eyes. Add me in Steam, I can help you for free (or free cat?) as long as you have few days, since I'm a bit busy. ;)

Sure, I'm available tomorrow between 8-11am and night after 6pm (or 18:00) gmt +3. Or in other words - now it's 12:38am :D

For me, it's too simple and too childish.
The structure itself seems fine.
Try making it so the active tab has the same background as page and the other inactive ones have different color.
Add some border-radius and you can use PIE to make it work on older IEs.
Add some gradients/textures, it's too simple as I've said at the beginning.
Use some CSS transitions.
Also, that jQuery script needs a work, it could have been done easier and better.

I'm the conductor of the POOP train! Effing love the games and have scattered dlc, so won't enter, but thanks!
If you can capture the essence of this commercial/song, you win.

Design is little bit different but it's cute and I like it. Maybe you should use more soft edges for buttons and blocks, because there are many sharp edges and right angles. Something like you use in your sketch design.
Anyway good luck with this project. It's really nice thing to do and I hope that your friend will be successful.

you're probably not doing it intentionally, but you're currently spoiling a puzzle. please delete the first part of your message.
Maybe d0t will post a complete solution once the it's over.
cheers =)

As soon as I read "Roland" I thought of this guy. If you don't know who that is, shame on you :P
Ok based on your current design, I would change several things:
1.) The font. It's too common and looks like it was typed up in Word!
2.) There are too many colours. Try to stick with 2 or 3 max to create a solid theme for the site. In your case, you have a really nice header image with that rainbow and light blue sky. I would take that light blue and use it for the main background to replace that dark purple colour.
3.) With your header image/title, I would move the "Animal Rescue" words a bit lower so that it doesn't cover up that little butterfly behind the first "e". Little changes like that will make the lettering look as though it's part of the image rather than just on top of it. I'd also add a thin border around Animal Rescue because that will make the title pop :)
These are just some suggestions from someone who used to study web design and are not necessarily the "right" things to do. It's ultimately up to your friend to decide what looks good and what doesn't! Anyways, best of luck and thanks for the giveaway! (even though puzzles aren't my thing)

Hey!
So I have a friend who's been after support for a while now. He's building an animal shelter.
Because I like animals and I've been practicing web programming lately, I thought I'd support him and the adorable creatures of Earth with a gift of a website. It's essential for any organization.
However, I'm still kind of an amateur, and I need some advice about the design itself. I've put together something cute and adorable, but I find that something's missing, or it's simply completely off. I've checked other rescue sites for direction, but I'd like an individual approach.
Could you help me with this, please?
What would make you go like "I WANT ALL THE ANIMALS"?
Any help or advice would be deeply appreciated. :)
Thank you all!
You can check out the current design here: Clicky
[GA] = 0$ CV
Game = title related full version
Ends on 29th April, 20:00.
I hope I didn't make it too hard or annoying.
My excuse shall be a promotion of a better cause!
Hints - Feel free to ask me, but don't share the answers!
Q10 - It's an animal with a name.
Q12 - I made a mistake at this one. It's 2 words, not the full title.
