Convoy's good, if you liked FTL. I found it slightly easier than FTL on Easy difficulty. Slightly.

Take your main nearly-helpless vehicle out, alongside two protector vehicles, move along the world map to get random and found encounters (stick to lower ground and roads to make better use of fuel), be entertained at all the semi-subtle references to sci-fi and other properties in the dialog, and collect parts and additional vehicles, making sure to upgrade, repair, and refuel at camps. And shop if you somehow have extra to sell.

I rarely had streaks of bad luck; mostly it's a good mix of good and bad with minor effects each time.

Encounters with various factions (or anyone/everyone else) can often result in a fight. In this mode, protect your main vehicle mostly by out-gunning the enemy vehicles. It's definitely Mad Max style. Strategically change up your position on a grid, and prioritize targets with various weapons. Dodge obstacles -- some will insta-kill you (or your enemy, if you can box them in), but you have a warning when those are coming up.

I watched a random video of gameplay before purchasing during the Steam sale, so some of the gameplay mechanics were learned quickly from that.

I managed to beat the game on Easy the second time I encountered the boss, but I wouldn't necessarily expect that. I only survived by the slimmest of margins. Although the encounters are repetitive, it's still entertaining enough. Again, if you liked FTL, Convoy's a good game.

BTW: The full version of Earthfall officially launched today. If you already picked it up, you can now play the remaining levels. If you didn't, all you need to ask yourself is "do I want Left 4 Dead with aliens instead of zombies?".

Grabbed Convoy earlier, Star Vikings looks interesting, but I probably won't reach 4k again before it sells out :) Any clue on how fast the keys are going?
