Hi all! I wanna help a friend promote their game and thinking of suggesting them to do a 50 copy giveaway here. However I was wondering if it would be wise to set CV (even if just $0.01), and if setting CV will still let it be a feature giveaway here. Thanks in advance! And I can't tell the game until I contact him and he's sure (:

Also any other suggestions for a new small indie game to gain exposure that will entice people to buy from Steam would be much appreciated :D

another way would be a Puzzle, even a very simple one. Just to ensure that someone that is interested in the game and would play it enters the Giveway ( and maybe promote it) and not a "let me enter all GA of Games I do not own"-script...:-)

Hmm that's true, so maybe that, as well as the 50 copy? Because that's like a free banner advertisement right?

no that does not work. Maybe the puzzle way is not the right one in this case.
Maybe a Group?..just ideas

True, so kinda like Rollercoaster Tycoon is doing right now? I'll just toss these at him and see what he decides on.

Suggestion? They do themselves the giveaway on a "Developer account" not you giving away their game and using the CV to personal profit.

Oh definitely, they'd be using their own account as I told them, plus I wouldn't be able to contact all the winners lmao. "thinking of suggesting them to do a 50 copy giveaway here"

OK. Anyway you could suggest them to do a 50 copies giveaway by you or on your profile to make it "easier" for them. It wouldn't be the first time someone do that. Sorry if I offended you.

Yeah definitely I see where you're coming from! That definitely wasn't my intent so frankly I was a bit taken aback - but I can see how people would do that. Thanks for acknowledging that though :)

You can have the friend get in touch with cg to arrange the event.

Yeah true, it'd probably be helpful, I just assumed you'd be automatically featured if it's over 50 copies? I'm not really sure atm

I know nothing about these things, so maybe check with some steamgifts staff or other indie guys who have done promotions here for real advice... :)

My ignorant suggestion is to avoid puzzles, the forum, cv, anything like that. I think to promote your friend's game, the giveaway would need to be seen by as many people as possible - so a public giveaway with no cv.

Also, I have no idea how much traffic that brings to the greenlight, kickstarter, steam store page etc. If you look at public giveaways, you will see most people just click "Enter to Win!" without reading a single word you've written. :(

Good luck! :)
