I noticed the updated release. I still have it on PS2 myself, so not interested in another copy myself, but I'm sure many PC gamers will be happy for the second chance.

I haven't played the game at all, and seeing a said-to-be great game's remastered version costing only 9€ on launch makes me really happy (not another 15€ reskin like khmheroeskhm) - I plan to wait with it until it gets a little discount, I would be foolish to pass this for example 5€. This looks to be an intresting year: Fahrenheit and Grim Fandango (also haven't played, so brand new experience for me, yay! ) and it's not even february yet.

No, it's not back. It's a new title, hence the name "Remastered Edition."

It's also available on iOS. I'm wondering if the QTE's might be a little easier there.

Either way I'll wait for epic price drops or a bundle as I still have my retail disc and the remaster doesn't look much better.

Nice.

What sort of graphical improvements are there, bearing in mind that this is a game originally released almost a decade ago?

From what I've seen, there's barely any. Slightly better textures and that's about it.

Apparently there's also proper gamepad suppport.

Oh well. At least the price is a reasonably fair one.

According to the store...
• Uncut version of the game — Unlike the original North American release, Remastered contains all of the game's original scenes, uncensored and uncut.
• High-definition Graphics — All of the in-game textures have been meticulously recreated in HD for desktop.

...but perhaps the most interesting part is this:
• Live Graphics Comparison — Players can switch between the updated visuals and the original art assets by pressing F9.

I took a look at some circa-2005 screenshots and compared them against Remastered edition ones; it seems that new textures is about the extent of it, there are no new models and lighting appears untouched. It's sharper as a result, overall, but if you were hoping for a Resident Evil/biohazard HD revamp, you're out of luck.

I remember beating a very annoying QTE to get to one of the best scenes in the game. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Good times.
