No idea what I'm gonna end up playing yet, but I'm pretty excited to give some longer games a try that I wouldn't be able to beat in one month! Would Revita be eligible for the event? As far as I know it doesn't have any "beat x boss" or "beat the game for the first time" achievements but it must have some final-final boss.

Really liked all the games this time around! I said I was gonna try to play something longer because of the 2-month event but I just ended up playing a ton of Revita, looking forward to the 2.0 version to release so I can play it some more.
*Paradise Killer didn't really have a true ending achievement so I've included a "thanks for playing" scene screenshot that you get after beating the game post credits, let me know if that's enough or If I need to submit something else. I could always get that "beat the game in 10 mins" achievement but it just boils down to mashing though all text prompts afaik.

Revita is fine and I'll be looking for the Tower Dweller achievement. There is a true ending that is tied to the Unknown Dweller achievement which I was considering but I feel like it would be too much of an ask to require it.

I was reborn through the last month challenge. Now I know how to play games!

Necromunda: Hired Gun / July 2022 bundle | Started on April 7th / Finished on April 11th The Past | Before playing: I was excited for this game for a moment but then reviews came, with more comprehensive gameplay footage. And it was like worse Doom only in WH40k skin. I guess, it's time to set the record straight by playing it. After playing: Yep! It's worse Doom. But Necromunda grew on me by the 6th mission. And by the end I started fully enjoy most aspects of the game, except for the cutscenes. They remained awkward, pointless, badly acted, technically broken gaming minutes that you endure only to confirm that they are total scheisse. |
Relicta / May 2021 bundle | Started on May 6th / Finished on May13th Mens sana in corpore sano | Before playing: I activated Relicta from Humble without any thought and virtually forgot about it. But not so long ago my brother played it through steam family sharing. He testifies that this game would have been next Portal (or at least next The Talos Principle), but Illuminati interfered. After playing: If you have already finished Portals and Talos Principle, if you find The Witness too pretentious then play Relicta. It is a huge number of puzzles of reasonably growing complexity coated in some vegetarian but overall agreeable narrative. |
Paradise Killer / July 2021 bundle | Started on May 17th / Finished on April 22nd 100%-ed | Before playing: Someone on youtube told me the game was hidden gem. I didn't believe it but remembered the claim. Let's find out what they call hidden gems nowadays After Playing: Paradise Killer hooked me. it's very quirky, lore dense and secretive and with some heavy squinting It reminded me of Disco Elysium in a good way. But the conclusion is the weakest part, technically it all came down to roaming the open word again and again until you find something you missed, no clues or hints just a brute force search; narratively the end is a just summary of all revelation you discovered and didn't seem that deep. |
⭐DEATHLOOP / October 2022 bundle | Started on April 26th / Finished on May 29th One Perfect Day | Before playing: I LOVE but more importantly RESPECT Arkane Studios. That's why it pains me to see that how "the market" treats them. I can see how Arkane is getting ready to "sell out". I'm scared but intrigued to find out if they already did in Deathloop. After playing: It took some time (3h) but Deathloop clicked with me. All I needed is to get over the tutorial phase: it was too straightforward and restrictive and I constantly felt that I was playing the game wrong. But later the usual Arkane freedom made its return, and I simply loved Deathloop, the best game I played this year. |
Katana ZERO / October 2021 bundle | Started on April 8th / Finished on April 13th To be continued | Before playing: They say the game is Hotline Miami but side-scroller, hmmm... I liked Hotline Miami very much. After playing: If one has to compare, then It must be said that Hotline Miami is better then Katana ZERO in almost everything except the plot. Surprisingly, similar drug-induced premise in Katana ZERO results in a fairly intriguing story (anime-style, though). Too bad, the ending is "To be continued" but I'm intrigued enough to wait for the next part. |
GreedFall / December 2022 bundle | Started on April 12th / Finished on April 25th A passion for extreme | Before playing: It's one of the games that I would have never picked for one-month challenge. They are too long. Maybe not all of them, I don't know that, but I know that I still haven't finished the entirety of The Witcher 3, after 175hours of gaming input. After playing: If it was up to me I would spend a lot more on "presentation" developing this game. I can get along with a lot of budget restrictions but wooden faces of talking heads monotonously reading to you the plot are really bumming me out and don't allow for much emotional investment. So I'm not really recommending Greedfall, but at the same time I am not going to dissuade anyone from trying it. |
Comment has been collapsed.
just a note on Greedfall: it took me 48 hours to finish while getting ALL of the side content complete and reloading my final save multiple times to get the different endings. you absolutely don't have to worry about a 175 hour venture here.
Comment has been collapsed.
48 hours seems manageable! I hope, I will be able to "sync" with the game so that it wouldn't become a chore. Like it was for me with Dragon Dogma (I know, I know, it's an underappreciated treasure, but its DLC shouldn't have to force you to crawl through the same dungeon for, like, 10 times (or was it even more?).
Comment has been collapsed.
i have 78 hours in Dragon's Dogma and i think only got halfway through the main story so lol, hear you on that. never even got to the dlc.

Ruiner | May 2018 | Started: May 4th / Finished: May 7th | RUINER. Beat the game on Normal Difficulty | Fun and fast paced. Like that you can reasign ability points whenever, so that you can try out different strategies. |
Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery | May 2023 | Started: May 6th / Finished: May 6th | Behind the Frame. A secret hidden deep within. | Did play some longer games. Or at least not very short ones. Was fun but busy time ahead so trying to end the challenge with a shorter game. Love the artstyle! ^0^/ Beautiful, short little story. Made me a bit emotional. Was a short but nice experience. |
Control Ultimate Edition | March 2021 | Started: April 22nd / Finished: April 29th | Take Control. Complete Mission 10 | Thoroughly enjoyed this game. Honestly got a bit lost in side content before even continuing with the main story. Loving the powers and had a lot of fun floating around and killing enemies. Also feels really rewarding to kill a side quest boss after a few tries. I do seem to be plagued with bugs, so yeah had to replay a chapter :/ but still an awesome game and might go back to play more side quests. |
Relicta | May 2021 | Started: April 5th / Finished: May 6th | Mens sana in corpore sano. Complete all puzzles of Relicta | I like puzzle games (until they give me a headache) |
Pumpkin Jack | June 2022 | Started: April 15th / Finished: April 17th | The Baddest Bad Guy. Kill the Wizard + Get the Amulet = Profit | Like the game so far. A bit of a shorter game compared to the other ones I picked so far. Had a small bug when first starting up the game, but fixed by opening the game in version DirectX11. |
Quantum Break | January 2018 | Started: April 8th / Finished: April 15th | Time Cop. Complete the game on Normal Difficulty. | Not sure why I have not played it until now. I like the game, enjoy the combat in the game. Final fight was a bit annoying, though with the right gun it was a lot easier. Overal enjoyed the game. Missed one thingy for the final ugrade and that associated achievement. Rip, will have to see if I go back to get it at some point. Finishing the game on normal difficulty gave me the achievement for finishing it on normal and on easy difficulty. Slightly triggered by This. |
Started: April 6th / On Hold | On hold and will finish later on outside of the challenge. Will play a replacement game in the timeframe of the challenge. |
P.S. I might still swap around the games, will see. But helps me get motivated to at least keep a few in mind.
P.P.S. Gonna try (if it works out) to play some langer games as the challenge time is langer :D
P.P.P.S Busier time ahead so won't be able to finish Death Stranding in time for the challenge so playing a replacement game instead and sill finish Death Stranding outside of the challenge.
Note to self. Games to save for another time: Horace, Minoria, Ruiner, Biomutant, The Ascent, zombie army trilogy, Ghostrunner, Eldest Souls, TOHU and Voidigo

Underhero was better than expected. Truth be told I start to not care about the story in games since they are usually really superficial and unless there is a sequel it doesn't matter if I paid any attention or not. But this game had a good story in my opinion.
MO:Astray was kinda the same, I usually not enjoy reading random notes in games, but this game actually had an interesting story. Also the game has some cool music too.
DEATHLOOP was really good, as expected from Arkane. Liked about everything about it. Nice graphics, cool powers, has an invade system (wish Doom Eternal also got one, oh well), good gameplay LOOP. The only thing I would have liked if it had alternate solutions for complete runs.
Just Cause 3 is also quite enjoyable if someone likes GTA-like games. But it's also quite repetitive, the missions are short and bland, and the DLCs are even worse.
Etherborn is a nice puzzle game but reeeaaaly short. It has 5 chapters, and the first one is about 5 minutes long, so in reality more like 4 chapters. Playing it through takes up about 2 hours.
BIOMUTANT... ehh, what can I say. I like RPG games but they are my bane because I try to do every side quest and complete every area and it takes so long, lol. The game is good tho, a bit overwhelming in size, and to be honest the loot you get isn't worth checking everything (at least after you got the good stuff), also enemies scale with you so no matter how strong you are they stay just as tanky as in the beginning, which I don't really like. Also, the narrator can get really boring really fast, but I guess it was cheaper than paying for multiple voice actors.

Hi, you asked for clarification on Surviving Mars and Dirt Rally.
Surviving Mars: I'll accept one of the mystery achievements below as proof to qualify for the event.
Dirt Rally: I'm split between "Damn This Kid is Good" and "Born to Run". I need to check to see how much of a grind it would be to get Born to Run before I make up my mind. I should let you know shortly which way I go.
Any input from others on this is welcomed.
Update: For Dirt Rally, "Damn This Kid Is Good" is the requirement.

Conflicted because I have a huge backlog of games that weren't (and never will be) in the monthly to play but at the same time... the extended format will allow me to play some from the Monthly that I have been putting off due to length and time constraints.
Well looks like I threw my hat in a month too late to do much with the extended edition but at least I'll play a regular month
I enjoyed Banners of Ruin way more than I thought I would. I am not usually into card battlers, or at least I thought I wasn't because this one was really fun to play. Maybe I should rethink card battlers. Any recommendations for good ones I should check out?
Furi on the other hand ended up being a lot of blah. I guess maybe my expectations were too high.
Behind the Frame looked like it would be relaxing and indeed it was. I needed something chill today and it didn't disappoint. I wouldn't really call it a puzzle game as most puzzles can be solved in seconds. It feels more like an interactive story you get to be a part of for an hour or two (if you play the DLC). It's beautifully done and the story is sweet. Nothing ground breaking perhaps but it's very well made.
I was very pleasantly surprised by John Wick Hex. The game was pretty tepidly reviewed so I didn't think I would enjoy it this much. The timeline take on the usual tactical gameplay was very well made and brought something new to the genre, imo. I guess people were expecting more of an all-out adrenaline fueled action game for John Wick, which probably would have made more sense but the game is still fun to play.
Speaking of fun to play, Rollerdrome is... an odd mix. I was not sure what to expect because I had read it was punishingly difficult and the completion rate are kinda low. Well, I can confirm it's fun... until it isn't. I enjoyed myself way more in the levels until about midway through the quarter finals. After that it becomes work, and not always of the best kind.
It's another one of those games that make me doubt HLTB's average times, tbh. I hit a wall after the quarter finals and literally had to replay the other levels dozens of times to manage to complete enough challenges to unlock the next levels and it took me hours.
And ofc the same happened when I finally slugged through the Semis to unlock the Finals.
At that point I probably would have quit entirely but just decided to enable some of the "assists" in the settings to just try and finish the campaign.
When you have to implement cheats in your game to make the last levels even remotely playable, you did something wrong.
And even with assists, man, those challenges were almost impossible.
I ended up trying the Out for Blood mode (basically a harder?! replay of the levels) but Ithink I'll stick to replaying the first levels in normal mode and just enjoy doing tricks and blasting baddies instead.
And wow I suck at Serial Cleaner! I'm not even trying the bonus content for now because I got so burned out playing and replaying half the levels to finish the game. It was fun but the difficulty level was a little up and down from one level to the next.

Oh boy, you do not know what you have done. Card battlers is one of my favourite type of games, so I have plenty of recs to give :p.
Banners of Ruin actually has a "true ending" which requires a second playthrough, but it is easy to mess up since it requires you to hit certain scenarios and the final boss is not a fair fight.
Outside of the mandated Slay the Spire and Monster Train recommendations, there is Pirates Outlaws which is fun mechanically. Plays a bit like Slay the Spire, but with a force card pickup and even less story. There is a mobile version of the game that is supposedly cheaper, but I've not verified it myself.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a must, no questions, just play it and you'll thank me.
Ring of Pain is really fun mechanically, but it does take awhile to find a play style that fits you and then you just have to hope RNJesus is on your side for the run to make it happen.
Griftlands is okay. I've played 2/3 storylines since I cannot get into the groove of how one of the characters play. The stories are solid, mechanics are interesting and fun, but it seems a bit hyped up.
SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is great. Solid gameplay and story. You'll have lots of fun.
I'm counting Dicey Dungeons in here, just because I think it is worth playing and I'll take any chance to recommend it that I can get.
I actually got Ash of Gods: The Way not too long ago and I plan on playing it soon, so if you give me a few weeks I'll let you know if it is worth looking at XD.

Hahaha well I'd rather get an avalanche of recommendations from someone who enjoys them than having to look on my own so thanks ;)
I'm pretty sure I have an unused key for Slay the Spire and Thronebreaker so that would be a good place to start.
Pirates Outlaws goes straight to my wishlist just cause it looks so cool.
I did play Ring of Pain, I can remember having had a good time with it but maybe not like Banners of Ruin so I didn't look further at the time.
I'll add the rest to the hopper for when I'm done with Slay the Spire and Thronebreaker. Dicey Dungeons look different.
I'll let you know how it goes ;)

Copy pasta of copy pasta of copy pasta of copy pasta of copy pasta.
Hello and welcome to the madness!
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in two months.
The prize: 2x Resident Evil 4
Note: This means I'm giving away two copies of the game and will have 2 winners.
Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.
Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add you on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.
FAQ:
Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for over seven years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.
I've played the first X minutes of a game, can I pick it for the event?
No. You cannot have any play time or achievements prior to the start of the event. The only exception is idle time from farming Steam cards.
Can I play a MP only game?
No. It needs to have an "end" in order for me to count it as beaten, so it needs to have a campaign/story mode.
If a game was sold as a non-Steam copy in a bundle (origin/uplay/drm-free/etc), can I pick it as a choice if I own a Steam copy?
No. The reason being that those who own a Steam copy would have an extra option that would not be available to everyone who bought the same bundle. If the game was originally sold as a non-Steam copy, but Humble later provided steam keys to everyone who bought the bundle, then the game would be allowed.
Why six games?
The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.
How long are you going to do this?
Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.
This event "ends" on June 6th when the next next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time.
Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and see you when its warmer outside..
