My last giveaway ended last saturday, and I sent the key right away.
I start to suspect that the winner is a bot... but in case that I need to reroll, can I do it this saturday, or next thursday? I ask this because today I just clicked on send key again, and unchecked, then clicked send again.
Sometimes I wish the window of accepting a key to be smaller, like 3 days or something.

LE: Indeed I ask if the counter reseted when I unchecked and checked back the "send" tick;
Also I try to keep the level of giveaways as low as possible, to give everyone a chance.

It doesn't really matter if it's a bot or not . 3 or 7 days doesn't make a difference either, it'a not your problem after you sent the key :)

On the page where you send the key, there is a green eye next to the key if it was seen. I feel like that's important to remember if you want the give the key to someone else.

Ah, but I guess your main question is if the unchecking and checking reset the timer needed. Hm, not sure but as this is not a fully automatic process I guess you could talk to support about it in the ticket.

Thats why I always added a contributor level to my more expensive GA's. Damn bots.

Yeah, you probably did reset the counter. But who knows, mods might be able to see the first phase you had the key shared.
I'm not sure why you are so agitated about this. Especially as your nervousness already resulted in you trying to send the key again. Just relax and wait.

But I'm not nervous about it, I just was curious about the counter reset, since I suspect a bot as winner.
The reason why I ask this is because I personally don't like to wait until last second to redeem a key and so on, and also don't stay on site to check too often.

The counter does not reset completely, but if you unsend a key for a period of time then that time is subtracted from the total time the key was available to the winner.

For example if you sent the key on Monday then unsent it on Wednesday, but then on Thursday you decided to send it again, then the timer would not completely reset from Thursday on. The time the key was unavailable would just be taken out of the total time, as the total time the key needs to be available is that one week.

If you sent a key on Monday and then unsend on Friday and immediately send it again, that has no effect on the timer if the time the key was unavailable is small enough to be negligible. But in general there's no reason to send-unsend-send again as winner would only get the notification about it once. Basically once you've sent a key, you don't need to touch it again. You can unsend a key if the winner is unresponsive for that full week from the time you made the key available to them and then submit a reroll ticket, but otherwise no need to fret about sending-unsending.

Yes, the counter does reset when you do that.
I did this once myself to get a reroll, and support said it hadn't been 7 days from when I sent key.

I did not know that staff takes that into consideration.
Remembers me at a day ,i won a public giveaway and wrote instantly that it might show that i have 1 not redeemed win on sg.tools due to a game that just got recently removed from steam.
Still got rerolled after 5days .

YOU WON a giveaway, that's different than being the giver, and having to wait 7 days.

"Sometimes I wish the window of accepting a key to be smaller, like 3 days or something."

if you won a ga, still online, still entering giveaways, not checking your wins, for literal days,
you should be automatically flagged and suspended tbh.

Just because you can't think of good reasons to act a certain way doesn't mean there aren't any.

Let's imagine an example scenario: someone regularly uses Steamgifts on a mobile device (e.g. tablet, phone) but only has access to their PC (or time to access it) on weekends or at certain times of the week. If the person prefers to activate their Steam keys via the Steam client (on their PC), they will then wait for the right time to do so, while continuing to use Steamgifts.

This is just an example. I'm sure there are plenty of possible scenarios that justify the kind of behavior you're talking about.

yeah but you can easily activate keys through the mobile browser or the mobile steam app though,
so that sounds like creating an extremely specific problem to a simple solution.

like you created a lot of giveaways, you never felt like that was happening too much? people online 24/7 and not claiming keys, aka botting.

because i didnt create that many giveaways and it happened to me a handful of time, honestly i feel like my blacklist in a couple of years would be just 99% winners of my giveaways, maybe im just unlucky with the bots.

also, dear botters -not reading this probably lol-, if you're gonna claim the key on the weekend and let us wait 6 days for you, at least say thank you or something.

Neither the app nor the mobile site provide any links to redeem Steam keys. So if people don't know that they can visit store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey to activate their wins, that's still a bottleneck for most users.

Edit:
And with our many created giveaways we maybe learned not to fret about some people taking their time. The only part that ever bothered me was to get mods involved when one week passed and we had to provide proof that we contacted them.

yeah, i forgot that steam sucks lol,
but you can actually claim keys through the app, go to wallet and you will find the claim codes area, it works both for steam gift cards and steam keys, they just forgot to make it clearer for the users,

and for the website when you win a game on SG there's a button that says redeem, and when u press it it takes you to the activation page with the key already copied and ready to claim,
so it shouldn't really be a problem in either cases.

and i do agree about the modding, and honestly many of the rules needs updating and some of the coding to fight bots.

It happens sometimes, but usually after 3 or 4 days they activate the key. If after 4 or 5 days nothing happens, I send a warning message by email to indicate that after 7 days I use the reroll to ask for a new winner and so far it has always made the winner react (it has only happened 2 or 3 times). And again, when you say "aka botting" you are making conclusions without having any proof. Yes, it may be the case, but there is no certainty. For me, if it's a game that's not important, it doesn't matter who wins it (bot user or not). If it's a game that I find more valuable, I increase the level restriction or I use my whitelist or a more selective group to create the GA.

As for people who seem to be permanently connected, I think you should not rely too much on this connected / not connected status.I wouldn’t be surprised that simply having a Steamgifts page open in a background tab of the web browser might be enough to be considered connected - even if they are doing something else on their computer (like playing a video game, or watching a video on another site)...
