Video of how to fix with links to what you need

I did not make that video or guide in any way shape or form.

However it did help me make the game 100% playable when before it was not, as it could not find steam, only thing I will say when doing the editing on the hex code use the value 80 07 in place of what is recommended in the video in place of the original 40 06 as this unlocked the proper resolution for me, that didn't pop up when using what the video said to. If the game can't find steam when you click on one of the links to learn how to fix it, it is on page 3. All the links you'll need are on the video, I can't say it will fix all problems but it did fix mine.

I feel as though this is a good thing to have posted as its part of the Halloween sale.

It is a good game, just like a few games on steam just needs some user editing to make fully functional.

It's not that. Troika got canned by Activision. You'd be essentially giving money to those who killed the developer off.

Why not buy this awesome game?
With unofficial patch it's one of the best RPGs ever made.

Just saying, if you ever do get this game. Get the unofficial patch, it'll fix a crap ton of bugs AND enable a background 'stats' like thing. Plus, more 'realistic' humanity gains and losses and more quests. Also, a more simpler way to fix it (Assuming Win7, some say it's the same for Vista.) is to install said patch, then go to the game .exe (vampire.exe) and set it to run as administrator and use Windows XP service pack 3 compatibility mode. Do disable desktop composition and visual themes as well. This should allow you to run the game after restarting Steam. Problem with this method is that if you play any other game that isn't it, you'll NEED to restart Steam to play VtM. Troublesome, yes, but it's very worth it.

Troika went bye bye the same way Bondi Beach devs did, spent all their money quickly.

Although Troika did have a Fallout type game in the works before they finally closed their doors in 2005.
