I tried it from a puzzle magazine once, but that didn't work out so well.
Anyway https://www.steamgifts.com/user/Nordhbane/discussions he was a master of making puzzles, check out some of his old discussions. Also some people made mazes through either using steamgifts itself with a maze of links or even a seperate website.
Or people tended to do encryption puzzles in the past.
Or check out this: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/TLR8m/zelgh-magic-guide-to-basic-sg-puzzling-update-october-2017

Well it's not 1 dollar, but still a charity bundle, 26 games and not that expensive.

It's not expensive, but I've been operating with a zero budget for a couple of months. I can't even buy that one for myself despite wanting most of the games in that bundle XD
For a while now my main source of keys has been grinding credit from feudalife and then buying whatever is on sale at indiegala. But faudalife hasn't been open much recently, I depleted my credit, my key stash has mostly dried up again, and they increased most prices in their store.
I actually think I'll have to take a break from SG for some months.

I know that feeling, i had nothing for years and only had tremorgames (good old times) got me 1000-2000 games a year, haven't really found a suitable replacement.
I am on wellfare now for a few years, since i am alone i would have a bit more left to spend then someone with kid(s) so a humble here or there i can do, although sometimes i also should halt myself.
Hope you can find a solution to your money problems.

My money problems are kinda two pronged. On one side it's just personal stuff that I can actually fix (hopefully) since what put a strain into my family's finances the last month or so was that my mom and grandpa got sick, fuck dengue, and they're getting better now (although my grandpa also fell down the stairs and broke three ribs so that's gonna take a bit longer to heal).
On the other side tho it's the rather massive issue that my country's economy is in the dumps and our currency lost a ridiculous amount of value, we're talking about hyperinflation levels of damage, so that kinda wrecked everyone's personal economy. When one's meager savings are worth less than a third of what they were worth a year earlier and a single trip to the supermarket can empty your wallet things get rough pretty quickly. And in a larger timescale things are just ludicrous, when I was a kid in the 90's one dollar costed one peso, in the mid 2000's one dollar costed around 3 or 4 pesos, now one dollar costs something like 1200 pesos.

Some of Nordhbane's are kinda broken becos of old broken links. But there are incredible ones there. The chess one is crazy.
On the other hand I want to avoid the methods registered in the guide since it's too easy if they can just look it up. But maybe I should use it to hide links to the real puzzle. As a warm up

I don't think you can force inspiration. If you are looking for ideas just check out for already existing puzzles. There are basic types which can be re-arranged. I don't think it is even much of an issue if you use the types discussed in Zelgh's guide as most people nowadays are not that familiar with it anymore.
You can also look up past puzzlemaker's and what they have done like Nordhbane, Samus, Oppenheimer or Jeffhowe. There are more but these are what I remember right now. Especially Jeff stays in memory because his puzzles where not difficult but large in size and ambition. The "puzzle scene" was a lot more active eight years ago.

Soooo, I have been doing some trains with quizzes lately. But I feel that they are getting old (and I'm running out of ideas).
What do you do to get to get ideas? Do they come to you by themselves or do you do something else like watching movies or playing vidyas to get them? :)
