It's only used for an authentication. Unlike singing in with Facebook, the site has no access to your account in any way. It only sends a request to the Steam OpenID if it's really you and then the site gets a response "it's the guy with ID XXXXXXXXXXXXX". So the only thing that is happening there they ar assigning your Steam ID to your IndieGala account. if you were not scared to give them your e-mail, password, credit card number then you must be stupid to be scared to give them just a string of numbers.

You could just unsubscribe...or mark it as spam so it gets dumped to your spam folder.

While i get why you would not for this game,and this is why i have dummy email for things just like this.

Steps are being taken to help avoid people hoarding keys or reselling them on places like g2a.
