Title.

EDIT-

Looks like people haven't been informed that Arma 3 ALSO HAS MODS. You know, like, Breaking Point, that includes zombies and surviving. One of the reasons i asked a question like this.

Not talking about mod DayZ, but the standalone

Considering it originated as a mod on a Milsim, I would guess quite a bit. The breaking point mod on arma 3 already seems to have more content than the standalone, so I guess that is what he wanted to know

That makes it sound like you think you need Arma 3 to make DayZ run. Is that so ?

If not... what is the relation between those two ? That would be like asking, I have Batman Arkham Asylum, is it worth getting Football Manager ...

It is if you want to play a hardcore football sim in which you can invest a lot of time :D

Well Arma 3 and DayZ have nothing in common(talking about Arma 3 Milsim)

So depends on what you really want to be honest. You want to play a milsim or you want to play a zombie survival game ?

If you bought Arma 3 for the zombie mods, then i would reluctantly say yes buy DayZ, but i can't 100% recommend it since the patching/updating the game seems to be very very slow paced.

No, don't support Early Acces bullshit unless you are sure you want to support the development team and are willing to deal with a lot of bugs, lack of content and maybe a game which never gets fully released.

Breaking Point? It seems interesting, it has the humanity system implemented (= if you see a player with a bandit skin you can feel yourself free to kill on sight).

Yes, DayZ is better than Arma III mods.

one of the things about early dayz mod was the community, before it went viral (basically arma2 player base playing the mod, before the 'deathmatch' player base came, due to popularity). Maybe the arma 3 mod has that too in the mods. If that is a plus for you, i would stick to arma 3. If it's a thing (not sure , don't have the game). Also protecting against hackers and abusive admins was less important, because of the same reason.

I am kind of confused from the original post? Just to clarify:

You have Arma 3 already and wondering if there's a DayZ like mod for it or one that will be as good as DayZ that can be played using Arma 3? Answer is I don't know with Arma 3 if the modding will be as good as I know some people have complained about it being a bit difficult to do mods for it.

In regards to DayZ standalone it runs on 2.5 engine not the Arma 3 engine, and is designed from ground up with mechanics that are most likely going to be better coded than Arma 3 when it comes to survival and getting chased by Jamie Hyneman. If you really like DayZ or liked the mod for Arma 2 it is most likely worth it. Heard though that they are trying to bring the focus back on survival and not deathmatch like the original dayz mod descended into.
