They use a very common scam, they usually just try to get your bank info etc. One called me and told me that they're from "Microsoft" and showed no identification and such. Just letting you guys know

If you're dumb enough to fall for these easy scams then it's your fault and deal with it, simple.

Alright, I'll reply back with my bank #, account info and password and everything. But you see, I was recently ousted from my chair in my house by my knife wielding dogs and I need at $500,000 USD to get my chair back with my wallet on it. Please send me $500,000 so I can send you my bank info.

Ill send you the 500k, but I require your social security number, name, and birth date to process the transaction.

Yes yes, but you see my ssn, name certificate and birthdate certificate are locked away in a safe guarded by 3 arrows to the nutsack, I need my grandma to open it but she lives very far away. I'll give you her email, can you pretend that you're my banker? She needs $1,000,000 to pick up her phone.

ITT: people acting like fucking children. You don't necessarily have to be stupid to be scammed.
Naiveté != Stupidity.
Ignorance != Stupidity.

This guy has good intentions and you're acting like 9 year olds.

All of these scams/cons have fooled otherwise intelligent people out of huge amounts of money (the last Ponzi scheme was in the order of BILLIONS of dollars):
419 scam
Ponzi scheme
Bucket shop
Get Rich Quick scheme

Vulnerability to confidence tricks

+1, i seen so much of this go on. it's amazing how well some of it is planned out. It's almost impressive. Even a very clever person can slip up, and get caught out. Watch your back people

The only way to get Microsoft to give a single fuck about us peasants is the threat of slandering their name in the Media.

It might very well be? I get letters like that in the mail (physical) sometimes. It's just a standard letter sent to everyone in the area about some change they're implementing to the schools or something.

It is, I remember seeing something about how awful that sounds on TV a while back. It's just a plea for money, like all politicians :)

Wtf why do these weird coincidences always happen to me. I saw a Youtube video today of someone trolling some phishers calling him and telling him to go to the same site. He spent 75 minutes fucking with them. Then at the end they hang up. Then they call him back and threaten to hack him, then they hang up again. Then they call one more time and tell him "Do you want to see me hack your computer? Okay, push escape with your left hand and hold it. Got it? Okay good. Now use your right hand and stick it up your ass."

Pro Microsoft certified douchebag right there!

A quote I found:
"support.me is an alias for logmein123.com which is the access point for providing remote computer support. Logmein is used by many companies for remote computer access and support. Some of them may be dishonest but others are not. It depends who is sending you there. I work for a small business and we use LogMeIn to provide technical support for our clients. Check out LogMeIn. They are a reliable company. But don't log in or give anyone access to your computer that you don't know or trust. My point is that support.me is not necessarily untrustworthy - it depends who has contacted you and why."

Yup. It is a legit site. It gives someone else control of your computer. You could use it to access your computer if you're on vacation and can't get to it (as long as you have someone to turn it on for you haha). And you can use it if your friend maybe has a problem with his computer and you don't want to go over to his house. Hundreds of legit reasons for a site like that.

I've seen someone on SPUF say he used something similar to access his home computer during the Steam summer sale while he was on vacation in a different country so he could take advantage of the sales :).

I just want to say Support.me is a legit Service for remote access. It is only used by scammers.
