Gonna get it?
Where is the "not if they payed me the average poll option"

I usually don't even buy games for myself (not with my backlog), unless its a game i want to play right away. So yeah its not unusual for me to buy games I would like for myself. I gave away prolly hundreds of games that were on my wishlist ;p so yeah, i may buy a game for ga and still enter it. Heck sometimes i will buy it even several times and give it several times - it still doesnt mean i wouldnt want to own it myself as well ;)

you know - with over 350 games in direct backlog (aka stuff I downloaded and installed to have an incentive to play it ;p) it is kinda hard for me to justify buying new and new games for myself. So I make GAs. Sometimes I will manage to win the stuff I wanted but gave away quite soon (for example I wanted almost everything from Humble Sekai Project Bundle, bought Tier 3 but gave it all away, yet in 2 months managed to win most of these games with now only 5 missing ;p), sometimes it takes a lot of time (I gave away WItcher 3 preorder 1 year before it even came out, I waited till I won it for 2 more years ;p and it was like my top1 wishlisted game) sometimes I won't win it at all, but like I said - in my purchases GAs are usually priority ;) If I were to buy games for myself I probably would end up not buying anything at all, deciding that I have enough games to play already ;p

Like I said, we have different takes on this. Maybe I'm lazy but buying games and then entering giveaways for them to figure out if I can give them away seem overly complicated to me.
Edit: I take it ratio groups are a big part of this "puzzle"?

not really, as I'm not really to good on "ratio farming" - I am in 2 groups that use any kind of ratio at all,and still it's among other rules, neither is only ratio based. And if "ratio groups" were to be a big part of this "puzzle" I would probably bahave the same no matter what group to "optimize" wins, which is not really the case ;p Because in one group, which focuses mostly on bunbdle games, and is like bundle-leftovers group my ratio usually suck, I'm constantly on verge of minimum ratio, because most of the times I cannot be bothered to buy loads of cheap bundles to dump few dozens of bundle games to fix it, so I mainly only dumpl leftovers there, on the other hand in other group which uses ratio I gave away almost twice as many games as I won, so I could just sit and leech and still I created 9 GAs for it recently despite not having to do so to fix my ratio ;p Also there's been times on SG where I was in more retio groups as well as times when I was not in a single ratio group and my gifting behavior wasn't really changing because of that.
If I were to say what is the biggest part of this like you called it "puzzle" I would say events - both closed and open ones. If I were participating in SimGiv for example I would always put on something great - something I would not justify buying for myself (like mentioned Witcher 3 preorder), but hey, SimGiv is not a ratio group ;p there's been people who created 2-3 GAs and won 100+, there's been people who created 200+ GAs and won 3 ;p. Also in times when I was making puzzles I would store up best prizes for big puzzle event - because if I spent 100h+ making bigass group puzzle that people were solving not only for days but even for weeks it would end up quite dissapointing - both for me and for solvers - if end-rewards for people who solved it all were just bunch of bundle games from current Humble Tier 1.

What we initialy discussed you summed up and I summed up " we have different takes on this."
But I don't see how I'm describing something else than what was discussed later on. You in your edit indicated, that ratio groups may be the big part of reason why I buy and give the way I did, thus in reply to said edit in 1st paragraph i explained why they are not really like you said "big part of this puzzle" and in second I decribed what actually is and used to be such a "big part"

I just figured groups as ratio generally doesn't matter much. I guess I have a bit of trouble understanding your reluctance of buying games for yourself while not having the same reluctance of winning those games if it has nothing to do with stats on SG

Well - I guess everyone here loves to win games, or maybe it's just me ;p So while I may not justify spending another 10$ on a game(s) which I will not play straight away it does not mean I will not gladly give it away to someone and I will not be happy if I get to win it ;) As for keeping buying stuff to make GAs - if all it was was about the SG stats then basically every constributor on SG would stop giving anything at all the moment they hit lvl 10, cause hey - your SG stats will no longer rise ;p Yet people were giving away stuff way before stats got introduced. Hell, in prehistoric times when I was not even around yet, there were not only no stats on SG, no levels, not even CV, no GA was giving any stats whatsoever, yet for some strange reason there were still people who were just buying stuff to give it to others ;p

I guess I should go and check them out. I take it they are of good quality
Edit: Not impressed, at all. The tree looks kind of cool though. Maybe I didn't find the right stuff but the ones below look fairly easy to mimic in a cheap card profit game.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's about trends not about what you or I find impressive. If enough people want tit backgrounds, tit backgrounds become expensive. Same with anime badges/emotes.
Few games actually try to exploit steam market trends, that I'm aware of, like the letter achievement games, and the game that had emotes of the presidential campaign like Trump, Bernie and Hillary.

I really dislike this kind of games.
It's also really hard, in my opinion, to consider these games... games.

Personally, I can't stand the art style but I can't really speak too much about the "quality" since I only played one game which seemed pretty standard as far as visual novels go.
Edit: Maybe it's not as obvious as I imagined but I was actually trying to make a joke :)

I am just gonna sit here and enjoy all the points that come in. My wallet is safe :D

How recently? After a few months, it'd already make some sense. Anyway, it could be worse, at least you didn't get t3.

Finally Sakura bundle! I can buy these "games" and my friends won't see them in my activity feed, hurray!

Usually after any bundle, specially humble bundles, the cards of said games loses too much value. For now it may still be high, but I wonder how much value it'll lose after some days... so I guess it's too soon to know.
