Among the few I've played, Shadow of Mordor was the best. Absolutely stunning game.

Exactly what I thought, other games there are good but none master their genre like portal does

Which Zelda? There's a whole bunch of them. If you're talking about Zelda 2 or Wind Waker, then Zelda. If A Link to the Past is the game we're dealing with, then it's between Zelda & Portal. If Twilight Princess is the Zelda title, then Portal beats it, yet Shadow of Mordor does not. And if we ignore Zelda, it would be Portal> Shadow of Mordor > Mount & Blade > Halo > Medieval Total War > Star Wars Battlefront 2 > Frustration.

And if we start dealing with the Zelda series, then it would go something like this

Wind Waker > Zelda 2 > Portal/A Link to the Past > Twilight Princess > Shadow of Mordor/ Link's Awakening > Oracle of Seasons/Oracle of Ages > Skyward Sword > Mount & Blade > Halo > Majora's Mask > Medieval Total War > Ocarina of Time > Star Wars Battlefront 2 > Zelda 1 > Frustration

As for the other Zelda games, not played them, so no opinion.

We have a lot in common. Just that A Link to the Past is the best Zelda. "Obviously". ;)

I used to think that, but I changed my mind a few years ago, when I replayed some of my older Zelda games. It's still a mighty fine game with a well deserved good reputation, but the other ones just ended up being slightly more enjoyable to me.

Yeah, there any many mighty fine Zelda games.
I'm not that much of a Nintendo gamer any more these days, but my (12 years) younger brother still is. I tend to tease him, when he mentions how great the next upcoming Zelda title seems to be, with "Nothing will ever beat the atmosphere of the first rainy steps in A Link to the Past. Nothing!". He always rolls with his eyes and surrenders. It indeed is a futile effort. ;)

Out of those, Mount and Blade.

Don't get me wrong, many are excellent. Shadow of Mordor and Portal are great games. The Half-Life series is legendary for a reason. I think maybe you're being a little snarky with the "3" though, lol.

But I've played Mount and Blade for...well, counting all of the versions I have...it must be at least a thousand hours with the Age of Change and Floris mods.

Most of these are franchises not games, you need to be clearer.

There are a few games and entire franchise encompassing tons of games in several different genres in it. It's like asking which is a better car: the 2013 FIAT Punto or Volkswagen.

21 votes on portal??? WTF this game it's one of the most overrated ever... short game whit just a few lines of dialog. (poor history too) easy puzzles.

medieval total war mmmm you should play shogun total war collections (the both) this is the best total war game (i don't test the new warhammer total war so maybe this it's good too)

short game whit just a few lines of dialog.

Sometimes brevity is a good thing. The developers of Portal could have padded the game, but it would have been worse if they did. And Portal is a game that's mostly remembered for its main antagonist, who was funny and well written

exactly people just talk about GLADOS GLADOS just because the cake joke. the character inself isn't that original (it's no bad but the lack of more history make this character a waste)
it's more i like more the little ball in portal 2 than the GLADOS character.

but people got too hyped about GLADOS and then they say the game it's awesome......

people need to see the diference between a nice or original character and a good game.

that is my opinion however i'm agreed that sometimes brevity it's nice, but in portal isn't nice.

Judging by Portal 2, I think Portal was so great because it was short Portal 2 goes stale after a little while
Keep in mind that there are only a handful of games where you can truly say that its only flaw is that it's too short
and seriously, GLADOS is great even without the cake joke

Funny you should say that, as Portal 2 also contains a lot of history on GlaDOS in the various audio recordings you get to hear throughout the game.
But yeah, in Portal 1, the reveal is mostly that you're being guided through the test chambers by an insane AI instead of by prerecorded messages, and that's about it.

Actually, there's a good bit of backstory for Glados, both in the first and second Portal game. Portal 2 puts the backstory for Glados front & center, but if you observe your surrounding, you can piece together a lot of things about Glados in the first Portal game. And I think this is part of the reason why people enjoyed the game so much. Not only was Glados fun to listen to, but the game did not smack you in the fact with all the backstory, you had to piece together a lot of things yourself.

The puzzles were well designed, fun to solve, and offered multiple solutions, giving the game replay value. Trying to find a better solution and not just the most obvious one was part of the charm with Portal.

that is my opinion however i'm agreed that sometimes brevity it's nice, but in portal isn't nice.

I thought the length of Portal was quite good. In Portal 2, things started to drag a bit. It was still a good game, the novelty started to wear off, and the whole "perfecting your puzzle solutions" loses a lot of its appeal when going back to them becomes a bigger time investment.

Portal & Zelda. The only games I played from the list though as the others are of no interest to me ^^
Yet definitely recommend playing them.
