Still looks a bit weird on my phone right now but possibly is a work in progress.

On it now. Not much of a fan, but nice to see mobile get some love.

I use my phone for SG when I'm at work or school, and right now I'm not a fan :( I dont know if its just my phone or what, but Discussions page alone has 1 letter per line for some reason, making me have to scroll down just to read 1 title.
I tried refreshing the page, but its still the same.

The update broke it for me on mobile. I can't enter GAs and can't reply to messages on mobile now :/ I've tried it on both of my phones (Android 2.3.6 and 4.4.2 respectively). Tried different browsers, but it's all the same, the site appears broken and the buttons don't work.
:'(

Ice cream? I'm using Ginger Bread 2.3.6 and KitKat 4.4.2. One of the phones didn't support upgrading to a new system when i bought it and the other one is for work stuff, so i can't go tinkering with it. Plus, both phones work so i don't have a reason to buy a new one.

Gimme back my desktop version on the phone! Holy shit this is terrible and hard to use, gaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh :C

Yes for being able to use deskop mode :D
It's unusable on my phone, moving just to the bottom of GA page will take ages, not to mention it's impossible to quickly change to WL / recommmnded / different forum category quickly. I never use mobile versions of the sites, it's better to have everything on screem, and zooming when I want to read / click something.

Yeah, it's very crowded on portrait mode on the phone, I think I perfect the tap and zoom on the desktop mode.

I hate the new mobile layout. Can't see how many points I have at the top. Can't see how long ago a giveaway was created or who created it. Sorry but these are pieces of information that I always want to see. Might be missing more things too. That's what I noticed offhand. It also displays too large on my tablet and can't zoom out. Can't even imagine how cluttered it would look on a phone. Honestly, it blows donkey balls. I was perfectly happy zooming in before with the desktop site layout instead.

+1. Blows donkey balls. I know what I'm talking about.
Seriously, it is pretty bad. With the new format, I have to scroll forever. And heaven help anyone who wants to read a long discussion thread with many replies.

Actually, yes. It took all of a half of a second to zoom in a little bit. Was it perfect? No. But it was miles better than the way it is laid out now with whatever changes were made. One step forward for the idea, 16 steps backwards for the implementation and actual practicality and usability. As it stands the site is now nigh unusable on a mobile device. It wouldn't be such a problem if you could load the old desktop layout instead as an alternative, but it doesn't work.

Polishing will take a while, sure. But if that means I can finally use the site one-handed like any other decent application on my smartphone, I'm happy to wait.
The old desktop layout is already available again, as far as I can see.
I'm just saying, give someone a little time before you tell them the hard work they do for you (for free!) blows donkey balls.

Well that's my opinion. I've never been one to sugarcoat stuff. At least it's straightforward and honest. As far as the free thing goes, I've heard that argument before and I never did buy it. Ignoring advertising revenue, being free and providing utility and services (which is pretty much most sites on the internet) does not and should not give it a free pass or make it automatically above criticism. I might have been more inclined to agree with you had I not seen the things that I have here over the past few years. Much different perspective.

You're free to form your own opinions, of course! And it's great to give creators honest feedback. However, I've heard that "I'm not a prick, I'm just direct and don't sugarcoat"-argument before, and never bought it. It's entirely possible to leave constructive criticism without sounding so entitled.

Well it is pretty new so there are sure to be some problems. Hopefully CG will read through the feedback and work on changes soon.
Oddly enough I don't even have the new layout on my phone browser. Maybe its just because my phone is old? Never thought that would be a good thing for once XD

Darn, layout with it is broken for me. The standard site might need to be zoomed in to read, but other than an issue with spoiler tags in Opera Mini (which I wanted toggle for, a feature that would be nice even under standard site display), it worked quite well.
Now, even standard posts can leave the small display area, and a single reply is cramped and extended beyond the screen display.

I grabbed my phone to check the new mobile site... it's a bit of a mess right now. Everything looks alright in horizontal mode but if I hold my phone vertically(the way I normally use it) it becomes almost impossible to use. Good thing that firefox allows me to toggle it back to the desktop version.
Let's hope this is just a prototype and the final version is a bit more usable.

Very much like it, even on portrait. I prefer crowdedness to having it snap to the top a few times while I'm trying to browse.

This is awful!!! Almost every discussion topic is too long and text wrap is terrible.
Everything is so chunky, I can't browse with speed anymore.

Oh I missed this because of the update... Awkward...

People could be more grateful that there's work being done (for free!) to make the mobile browsing experience more comfortable.
There are so many different mobile operating systems (and different versions of the same OS) that it's impossible to get just right immediately. Give it a little time at least before you proclaim the end of the world.

I had many sites I frequently visit suddenly turn into a mobile version. Every single time it made the browsing worse.
Of course it's worse when you are trying to squeeze a lot of content into a tiny screen. Either the layout is horrible or you get way less content on screen at any time or both.
I'd love to appreciate the hard work going to everything the devs (not just SG, for all websites) do. But I never understand mobile sites. The desktop version worked perfectly for years. Why bother deliberately making an inferior version of it?
Again, hopefully the switch to desktop version feature would work properly so this layout becomes optional.

It's not really combortable, when you have 4,5' screen and you see two 1-sentence comments or one longer one. And when you can see just three GAs on main page. I preffer to have everything visible and zooming in when I see something interesting.
Maybe on larger phones and tablest it's ok to o use, as people can see more. I dunno. But I'd preffer to have choice if I want to be able to use site quickly in deskop mode, or not.

Sure it's nice to have work being done for free, but if it forces the user to use a worse layout then the end result is bad no matter how many generous hours was spent on it. As several other users have mentioned, the opt-in/opt-out feature should be mandatory so people that don't want this forced upon them can switch back to the desktop version immediately.

Strange that it worked for you :/
It can't work because there is no desktop versoin and mobile version, there is only 1 layout, for both mobile and desktop. If you stretch your browser you can see that the layout changes, just like steam web does, for example

I would like to have the option to switch back to desktop version. For whatever reason the mobile version responds slow on my devices, and the formatting is messed up somehow.

So I see there's a new mobile version of SteamGifts, which I'm presently using on a tablet.
Very snazzy, CG. ;D
Edit: I don't have a phone to test it with, but it does sound like it's pretty crowded there. On tablet (iPad Air, for what it's worth), I have to say I do really like it for the most part, though it'd be nice for points to be shown in the top bar as they are on desktop, rather than have to go to the menu to see them.
