I remember it was on early access since I was a child. People said it was an innovative survival game (the only one at that time, for real, if I recall correctly...), with a lot of features and resources to manage. However, in practice, it looked totally different from its purpose, lol.

Now it was released, it's more expensive than on early access, but we also have PUBG, Paladins, Fortnite...

Did Rust even get near those ones? Is it still the game with a lot of naked men killing each other?

from what I have read, it's still really in alpha stages. They just made a reason to raise the price by taking it off early access.

and take that as an excuse to slow down on the updates or even stop developping the game altogether and run with the money

Graphically, it's beautiful. Everything else, it's trash.

Considering how big it was, I didn't even hear it left early access.

Apparently, it is still functionally an alpha early access, but without that badge, since early access nowadays is more like a stigma than an invitation to support upcoming beta games.

Five years isn't that much for a game, specially considering how many games take about a decade or more to make.

Daikatana. Duke Nukem Forever. All wonderful examples of what happens if a game takes ages to make.
In the meanwhile, Obsidian created New Vegas, a semi-openworld multi-ended game that is often regarded as the best entry in the Fallout franchise, in 18 months (mostly due to publisher pressure).

Just one example.

Final Fantasy XV is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix; the game is the fifteenth main installment in the company's Final Fantasy series. Initially released in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Development began in 2006 as a spin-off title for the PlayStation 3 called Final Fantasy Versus XIII. It was announced as part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy, a subseries of games linked by a common mythos, and ran in Square Enix's proprietary Crystal Tools engine. Developed by the team behind the Kingdom Hearts series, it was intended to be a darker entry in the Final Fantasy series than allowed in the main series.

Didn't the recently released Iconoclasts took like 8 years to make? I remember seeing something about that.

Paladins ain't a battle royale type of game.

Though I've heard they would be releasing a Battle Royale feature

How would that even work? You must've heard wrong.

Seems like you've heard right.
However, since one seems forced to play as teams I'd hardly call that a battle royale whatever they call it themselves. More like a free-for-all team deathmatch.

It still needs some optimization fixes but it's not bad, although I have only played like 5 minutes one year ago so I don't know how much it has changed

from reading the comments, that kinda remindes me of car x...
they removed the early acess tag but the game still on early acess
and to be honest I'm far more interested on the full workshop support, too bad is not happening as soon
as I though it would happen.

btw why we still supporting those tittles if we know they're not gonna improve it to
the point it actually worth playing.

I've played around 30 hours of this full release so far, and it's not too different from the pre-release versions, but 1. the animals are 1000% less retarded and 2. I've yet to experience any glitchiness just yet, so I'm having a lot of fun, but I'm personally waiting a couple months to see if the devs actually continue to update the game before settling on a Good or Bad verdict.

edit: The achievements they added a while back are glitched to hell though, so that's kind of pissing me off.

Looks FAR better than even just a few weeks ago, it's more than just shaders. I think the scientist AI isn't nearly as bad as most games they actually run away, use cover, crouch etc (it kind of bugs me they use a gun on you but you don't get one from loot, but that's ancient computer game logic from even the Might & Magic days)
Of course there are some things I don't really like, (I rarely play Vanilla servers) but I kind of like farming/building/getting boxes etc more than the RAID RAID RAID Loot Loot Loot anyway.
