DLC AHOY

Same city

Anyone else disappointed? I thought they would at least do like they did from SR to SR2, you know expand the city/world and add tons of stuff(This might be done but watch half of the clothing/weapons/etc... be DLC, probably some on disc like SR3).

Oh well, still looking forward to Watch Dogs, will probably pick up SR4 when it goes for cheap in a full package/GOTY edition.

Whats your view on this?

Some good news:

Game content, a fuck ton apparently, hopefully this isn't just damage control...

I would say I totally expected it since we know Saints Row IV was supposed to be a DLC for Saints Row 3 so I'm not disappointed per se, but I will also wait for the complete edition.
I think they are taking a big risk with GTA V releasing shortly after (that's probably why they are "rushing" the release to be honest). It probably didn't cost them too much to make though, but I guess that if someone (I'm talking about console players obviously) must make a choice between a new GTA and a rehashed Saints Row at full price, this someone will most likely go with the former...

Honestly I don't think SR at this point is even in the same genre as GTA, its more in the category of Prototype/Infamous/etc...So it doesn't seem very risky.

Damn it, we need more DLC!!! I wish all the games in my steam library were as DLC-awesome as dungeon defenders :D

It's Deep Silver, how anyone is surprised by this is beyond me - I'd rather have seen Ubi get Volition than these idiots.

I feel there wasn't enough DLC for SR3. I sure hope SR4 has at least double the amount ;)

I'm very much looking forward to Watch Dogs too, especially after hearing that PC will be the lead platform :3 (hope that stays true!)

Watch Dogs? Person of Interest? OR BOTH?

Lol, you know I might not be against the DLC if it was giant and not "LOL HERE 2 PAIRS PANTS, GIMME 5 DOLLARS".

Yeah its lead platform and looks absolutely amazing to me...happy at least someones releasing a open world sandbox game that looks good soon, kinda hope someone picks up where SR2 left off though and makes a silly one.

Haha :D I think "LOL HERE 2 PAIRS PANTS, GIMMIE 5 DOLLARS" would make for an interesting DLC name, I'd actually be slightly more tempted to buy them! (I'm not tempted to buy them at all but that would at least make it a smidgen more appealing) Some of the DLC seemed okay, I enjoyed Genkibowl (although it only provided a few laughs and not much else) but the clothing DLC just annoys me and it's the same in any game. I know I don't have to buy them (and I don't) but that doesn't mean I can't get annoyed ;)

Indeed, Watch Dogs does look amazing which just fills me with even more excitement, my partner and I really enjoy open world sandbox games and it feels like this is what we've been waiting for! Let's hope it fulfills it's promises! It really would be great if someone picked up where SR2 left off but sadly I don't see that happening, which is disappointing because it could quite easily become something great. Perhaps you can use your influence in the White House to make it happen ;)

There was actually too much DLC and not enough content within the damn game, which is why I only got my hands on it when it was in the Humble Bundle, that I actually bought for CoH.

They're doing shit again, and they ain't gettin' a cent of my money.

Sorry I was being sarcastic about the DLC, I should have made that clearer :) But yeah I enjoy SR3 but it did feel a bit lacking in content and the amount of DLC was just a bit meh. I won a copy in a contest that my the makers of a mod I play did over Facebook.

I'm hoping there won't be as much DLC for SR4 but that seems to be the standard format these days which just fuels the war between the DLC lovers and haters :)

That bundle was pretty sweet for the CoH games! :)

Oh, okay. I still really enjoyed SR3 even though I prefered SR2, so I'll probably play SR4 as well with the same friend I did the previous ones with, but only at a really cheap price like 5 bucks. Right because of their DLC politics.

Oh yes I enjoyed SR3 too but not as much as SR2 :) But yes I'll only be picking it up in a GOTY/Complete pack edition or when it's cheap :)

Like most games I buy, I will just wait until they inevitably release a "complete' version of the game with all the dlc included, or wait for a steam/greenman/gamersgate sale.

I have some soubts myself, how SR4 will turn out. I am only informed by the ads and it didn't make me curious or want to play it. I have seen no signs of plot and with the exception of superpowered saints and skins, it generally looked similar to SR3. I suppose it does not help that the superpower stuff does not seem appealing to me. SR is a over the top game, but somehow, I just don't think superpowers fit into it.

But who knows, it might all be great fun..?

Well, i guess super powers would be an amazing addition to the Saints Row franchise, It would bring more craziness to the game. ^^

Kind of what I already expected. I will probably wait for a complete sale before I buy SR4. I'm still not done with SR3 anyway, I've enjoyed it a lot so far but I don't see myself completing it any time soon. Too big of a backlog.

Cover me with your DLC bby.

But don't expect me to pay for it.

Nah, I mean, there are so many different types of dlc out there. Some are really worth the money and enhance the experience. Most, like this, are just a cash grab. I believe Saints Row IV will have a good mix of both, just like it's predecessor. So I'm still interested!

Honestly if they pull what they did wih SR3 I will be mad, I mean on disc DLC is terrible, literally 10 of the DLC packs were on disc and unlocked with codes.

Nyte Blade pack, Ultor Assassins Pack, Ballistic Fun Pack, Vampire Pack, Invincible Pack, Warrior Pack, Saints Tactical Pack, Genki Pack, Zimos Style Pack, and Super Unlock Pack were all on disc.

Hmm? You mean like if they created it after release and sold it as DLC? Depends, if its any good and actually worth money and not obviously cut from the game for an extra buck(Nice well built missions, areas, etc...). It was sad when SR3 came out and pirates had 10 DLC packs from day one...

I was hoping the series would be rebooted with 4, and revert back to the more serious tone that SR2 had (or at least redo the PC port of SR2).
And Steelport again? It's like a DLC with DLC.

Yeah as much as I hoped it would its not, honestly though even if they kept it silly like in SR3 but expanded upon it and had it basically have the customization/things to do that SR2 had I would be pretty alright with that. Kinda like what they did with SR1 to SR2....

But yeah...wishful thinking probably.

Why you hope SR be equal to GTA ? This is why in SR3 they started to take another direction.

SR2 was not like GTA, thats like saying F.E.A.R is like Doom 3, sure they are both sandbox games but they are vastly different. SR2 had a pretty great story, tons of content, bigger and better city, you know what not even worth explaining over, SPOILERS IN LINK, watch this.
