I got Spore and BFBC2 by saying that I wanted to redeem my old spore CD Key on my account. He didn't even ask for it, he just added it to my account then asked if I wanted BFBC2 or DA:O for free.

i never got an email from them for the promo, so i opened up live chat and told them my promo code said invalid. they asked me to copy paste the promo code, since i have had SO MANY issues with origin in the past i had a bunch of unused complaint codes for 15% off a game. i used one of those and said it didnt work, got an email the next day and they sent me a code and apologized for that code they never gave me. =) it doesn't even feel like i took advantage of them, since i have 20+ open tickets with their incompetent support team. if ever an "entitled gamer" statement were to be used, it should not be this time.

I got my promo code earlier this week, and used it to get Spore for free.

The bad part about this though, is that you can't use any EPs from Steam for any non-Steam copy of Spore...if there's no workaround for this problem - if there's absolutely NO WAY you could get a Steam-acquired expansion pack to work with an Origin-acquired copy of Spore - then so much for entering giveaways for Spore EPs on this site... :/

As for those who have had problems trying to get their own promo codes...you have my condolences. But you can't blame EA for trying. They might not always be the best game publisher around...but at least they helped give us The Sims!
