Ah yeah, that's sad. If I enter in a giveaway, it's because I want to play the games!

I won Dungeon Defenders from a random giveaway on the Steam forums, and haven't touched it hardly at all. I entered for the other game being given away, and feel like a total douche for getting this one. LOL

Idiot here unfortunately opened it. I thought maybe re-gifting it might piss off the guy who gave it to me. LOL Will try it again at some point and see if I can get into it. Sure is a nice-looking game, though.

Oh hey, lets re-download the entire game to add-on some DLC hooks!
I want to shoot whomever thought that was a good idea.

...that's a loaded post, I'm sure of it. Just not sure of what it's loaded with. ;)

Oh, I've just checked the three games I gave away. Maybe I shouldn't have done it, --, --, 1.7 hours. But still, I hope they'll be played at least some day in the future. :-) I'm a fan of old games, so I believe you can have great fun even with a game that has spent the last ten years hidden in your library. (Hmm, I think it might be time to re-play The Gates of Skeldal (1998) once more... But I have to play the games I won, first. I don't want to make anyone mad. :-))

I know what you mean. It really is annoying. Only one person out of four played the game I gave them, but only for 0.4 hours. And the first guy didn't even redeem the DLC!

It's called common courtesy. You got a game for free out of someone else's sheer kindness. You should at least fucking play it.

Or with other games they regularly play. Everyday.

If the person does not have time to play the game, then why do they enter the giveaway? Just to make the game sit pretty on their profile or to "eventually" play it? I think people should only enter in giveaways for games they really want, and will, play.

You're in a private group. I don't think they really care about it as long as you gift.

This guy gifted me Half Life 2 and Episode 1 a couple months ago, and I feel so bad for not playing it, but I really want to wait until I have Half Life, so I know what's going on and such. :(

indeed, i'd recommend you go play HL2 and enjoy, it's quite fun and compelling on it's own!

Out of my 100+ games in my steam acct. The games I really play are like "20" or less lol. And seeing these days we have some big titles out like Skyrim or MW3 or BF3. I really can't blame them to pushed back our giveaway to play later. And some game are just not your taste after you tried it. I just bought Saint Row: The Third cuz it looks cool and have some positive comment. I tried to enjoy the game for about 5 hours or so and decided I'm not the guy to play it and go back to Skyrim :P

Your basing the entire thread on the assumption that the person you gifted hasn't played it at all. Not everyone digs having steam in constant online mode tracking usage statistics. I update my games once a month or so, but beyond that I leave steam in offline mode because its a pain in the arse when there is an update to tf2 or one of my other games twice a week.
Also, people enter a giveaway because its just that, its an opportunity to get something for free. Just because someone wants a game doesn't mean that they dont have the willpower to hold off playing a game they might have wanted for a year so that they can focus on school or work.
tl:dr
Calm down, shit happens.

Many people actually pay for games and then don't play them for a while, maybe never.
Though, a good solution to the OP's problem is to only gift games that are totally awesome :D

Exactly, me too. I hate when people just enter everything to win something.

I won Portal 2 quite a while back, and only got to start playing it this week. I was on an out of town trip for work that kept getting extended, and my laptop couldn't handle the game at all. I felt pretty bad that I won it once my trip was extended.

Well I have a backlog that is pretty long. Unless I win a game I want to play right now, it goes on the bottom of that list.

People who win a game but don't even play the game, that just makes me really mad if they won't play it.
