it actually is, but only in terms of stealth mechanics

I'm currently playing the game. I just finished the mission in Tehran. I'm loving all the new toys they give you and the greater focus on stealth gameplay. As well as all the new ways you can upgrade your gear. One thing I'm not liking are the forced combat encounters where the level objective still expects you to ghost the level. Yet when the cutscene setting up the ambush you need to fight your way out of, you pretty much start off spotted.

I agree with everything you said. As a stealth fan, and a guy who prays in front of "Chaos Theory" game case, I say that it's time for a reboot, because the game doesn't make sense anymore. Or imagine if they put the game in Sam's past, like the '90s or something, that'd be cool, but prequels always suck, because you know that certain characters can't die, because they're in the "next" game. I was pissed off when I heard that Michael Ironside won't be doing the voice, that's why I even more appreciate Conviction, which was has better story than Blacklist. Blacklist= better gameplay than the previous one; bland voice; 50 year old man who does physically impossible things; generic spy thriller story. But the game is good and I recommend it. And all you guys that haven't played Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory... shame on you.

I've only played the original and Blacklist, but I didnt have any problems with Sam's appearance (although that voice & dialogue was pretty awful). Still, the game handled well and I enjoyed playing it through once.

it's not shitty, believe me. it is just not Splinter Cell anymore. I imagine that I play for Sam's younger brother or something like that and then it works for me

I weren't speaking of a story, which I really don't care. I played earlier installations because I like stealth games; meaning I need good, tight, responsive controls. But this one is pure console-to-PC port and the moment you touch mouse you know it.
Looks like I'll have to install Chaos Theory, again.

Amazing graphics and gameplay, especially co-op. The story is passable but I didn't like the voice actor for Sam; as you said, he sounds too young compared to his physical appearance.

Played it on Xbox and fully enjoyed it. I didn't really mind the appearance or the voice.

Yeah, it's not Fisher anymore. They should've made a new character instead of 'recycling' him if they don't want to use Ironside's voice.
At least they brought back the stealth mechanics, I hate some situations in Conviction where you can't use stealth even though it's actually possible.

Don't you think guys it's not Sam Fisher anymore? I really hated Sam's new voice (come on, he is supposed to be 45+, but sounds like 30), then I disliked the look (both face and his new suit), he looks like Shepherd from Mass Effect, wtf. Then even his moves - nothing like what I've seen in Conviction - no takedowns with guns or disarming anymore. I know Conviction is not the best game in the series, but I really liked how Sam looked there. Blacklist in my opinion has significantly better and more challenging gameplay, but the protege doesn't look or sound like Sam Fisher at all. What you guys think?
P.S. I bought Blacklist for 3 eur from humble store and happy ^^
