Every once in awhile I have friends who want me to join them in some random F2P game I don't often because I don't usually have interest in the game, and it's free. I guess you could say I'd feel almost guilty playing free games when I already have a huge backlog of paid games on PC, and my PS3 as well (even my Vita list is growing a little).

Anyone else have this 'problem'?

Would you/Do you play Free/F2P games even if you have a backlog?

Yes. Quite Often.
Maybe sometimes.
No. Almost never.

Let me ask you this: are you buying games? If you're not, then I can understand feeling guilty for putting something before that backlog. If you do buy games, then IMO there's not much difference between that and playing a free game (except that you're paying money).

I only play one free to play game. But this game is not on Steam.

My favourite games are f2p games but this has nothing with them being free, it's just that in my opinion those games that I play are better than AAA games, and on top of that they are free.

Its very hard to find a F2P game that is not P2W. Don't really like having to pay just to keep the balance in the game.

Always playing something f2p till something annoys me in it or get an idea of what to play.

I don't play them because they're trash, most of them are.

Play what actually interests you, that's all you should be doing. Dismissing a game because of its price rather than its content is just silly.

Overpriced games without content should be dismissed.

Well, yes, but doing that does in fact mean you're taking its content into consideration so that doesn't really affect what I said.

  1. Dota ,Team Fortress, Hearthstone, Heroes Of The Storm are competitive ones so they have to be free to get more players in
  2. CS:GO can be count as free2play too even if it's 10$,when you buy it,you will get something like 7-10 $ later... If you buy Skyrim, you won't get any dollars to your Steam wallet because you sold some pies so it's not free2play
  3. Path Of Exile

It happens. DOTA 2, TF2 and Path of Exile are all really good. Most F2P games that I've tried have not interested me, but I'm willing to give new ones a shot

Yeah, same here, I used to play f2p games a lot, mainly TF2 (288 hrs) but then I started buying games and also getting games for free. Now I don't play any f2p games just because I have 300+ games in my Steam library.

I try them out if they look interesting, and I keep playing if I like them (or if they're simple idlers like Clicker Heroes) so there's that...

Depends on the game. If it's free, why not? At least to try.
If it's actually P2W then don't bother.
A lot of short little indies come out as free too, they can be good for an hours entertainment.

However you should play what you want to play.

I almost never play F2P games because most are just P2W.

I had something funny in mind with butts and F2P.

But since I forgot, my answer is not really.

It depends if its p2w or not. (also if ingame events can be completed\is enjoyable as a f2p player)

I honestly wish there was a Steam store filter to just remove all F2P games. I dont want to see them, ever.
