It seems that more and more fake giveaways aren't posted because people are being dicks, but instead because they are too dumb to breathe, like this one. Had a few other examples yesterday, but they were probably removed.
Seemingly, people seem to think that when they create a giveaway, they get that game free. Why do they think that? Because they don't understand half of what's going on here. They seem to be either to young or too dumb or they don't understand enough English. Or any combination of those. How are we gonna tackle this?

Suggestions:

  • Upon creating giveaways, make the user answer a simple, nonconfusing question, like "Are you sure you want to give away <X> copies of <Game Y>?"

Shows how each generation is getting dumber and dumber, sadly.

Or its just that more and more people are given freer access to showcase their idiocies.

God bless the internet.

Nah, this just confirms a scientifically proven theory of mine: 90% of people are idiots.

Always have been, always will be.

Oh, I like that suggestion. Reword it a little, even.

"Are you sure you want to personally give away X copies of Y?"

I think that would be a bit more confusing to people who don't know enough english

Yeah, "Personally" is a really hard word to understand. Better to keep it simple.

"You give away [insert game here]?"

ask in giant letters. Do you have this game and do you realize you are setting it up to be gifter to charity? Do not make a giveaway if you are not able to gift this game. Making a giveaway doesn't magically make a game appear out of thin air.

"Do you OWN a giftable copy of game to give away?"

Simpler and more to the point, maybe?

Id like to see something like "Be sure to check the winner profile for the correct link to avoid scam."

it's not quite the problem at hand, but also an important thing to notify gifters about
