Some questions for steamgifters the are in London or were in London. I heard about these 2 shops (cheap games, good selection) so has anyone been in some of them, i mean in real store and not ordering online? Is there some other good game shop that you would recommend? Does anybody know if they have options for payment in installments? I heard that game has offer for PS4 in 10 installment but is it just for PS4 or for anything?

thanks

CEX

I'm not in London
Potato shop

why dont you look up your nearest store on their website and call them to ask about installments? its the best way for you to get correct information and not second hand info from other users

Well i dont recommend you cex, all their things they sell are used and they sell used things at the same price as they would be new XD

They can afford to do this due to the nature of their business. Say you take your old console and games in to trade up to a newer model and get a credit voucher, you then have no choice but to buy there regardless of their prices, They will pay cash for stuff but you'll also get significantly less.

My local CEX has a pawn shop just down the street which also buys all the same stuff but because they don't specialise in games/electronics they have to keep the prices on those items lower to move items as they only have so much space to dedicate to that stock.

I'm not from London but I am from England.

CEX is a great little shop, its second hand, they buy your consoles, games, dvds and sell them on. They do payment plan options on things and are generally a good bargain shop.

GAME is the typical high street retail gaming shop, nearly went bust a few years ago and closed a lot of its stores due to shit prices and being smashed by digital sales. You are going to get RRP there for everything you buy UNLESS there is a specified event on, for example all console games/consoles got 20% extra value if they traded in for steam wallet on a "back to school" event.

Both those stores are all over the UK, I visit the outlets for both in the Livingston Centre building, it's some adventure I'll tell ya.

GAME I'm not a huge fan of, but their get 3 for 2 offers for PS3 and get one half price if you buy 2 for PS4 can be sometimes worth it, otherwise the place is just a mess and overly expensive. Shortly after last christmas I found a copy of The Last Of Us GOTY, complete with DLCs and stuff for a tenner, and I bought it with a few other games. The shop was so packed that they rushed everything, and once I was outside to check the box, I actually got the base game, 'cause they changed it for me. I wasn't happy about that. Then, their stickers are the fucking worst, they cling to everything, and they put it on the disc (no, seriously) if there's no manual it seems. But! Their Wii section is cheap and always has some hidden gems, and their hardware for last gen can be generally cheap.

CEX is my Mecca at this point, they can be somewhat stupid about what they're selling. Last week I bought Dishonored's special edition which (PS3) is in a big box and has a deck of playing and tarot cards for it. They sold it for 4 and a half pounds, and looking on Amazon, Gumtree and Ebay I haven't even found this type of box anywhere. I found the card deck by itself though, going for 30-40 pounds... Same thing happened with a lot of special editions that I bought for Hitman Absolution, Dark Souls, and a PSP game (some Wipeout, not sure which) even had a pro duo stick memory card in it, 'cause they didn't check the manual and left it inside. Now, I don't know the realistic price of that thing since it's only like 32 MB, but I only found one on amazon and it costs almost 20 pounds. I bought the game for 1... But as a whole, they have a lot of cheap stuff for good prices. Even the bigger releases go for more reasonable prices, for example Steel Battalion is displayed for 130 pounds, and on the unreasonable land of Amazon you won't find it under 200, so that's a good thing. I also picked up a few really cheap favourites, even for older consoles like the PS2, Xbox, GameCube and PSP. They also sell some cheap accessories and hardware; this is the first place I've ever seen an OUYA at (not that I'll buy one), and I managed to snag Tony Hawk's Ride for a fiver, complete with the board. Why yes, I do love to play horrible games for my own entertainment it seems. Overall, good and cheap store for games, hardware, film and music (sadly no LPs though), and their stickers are okay I guess. They leave a lot of residue, but at least they never put them on the manuals, let alone discs...

I've been to CEX many times, not just in London. I usually buy films, but I have also bought a few old PC games. My sister regularly buys PlayStation and Xbox games there.

I have also bought one of these from them once. They didn't have it in my local shop, so I ordered it online from CEX Manchester.

Always had good experiences with them. Had to return an item once (bad DVD) and got a quick refund.

Well, I only had positive experiences with game.co.uk, but I used it online only. Got Evil Within deluxe ed. (physical, with artbook and stuff) for about 6€, and some other very cheap games.
