I have not found a way to ignore a certain user's reviews. But if there's one, I have a longer list.
You can't follow an user unless there's a curator page. All you can do is visit that page (reviews) and they're sorted by the most recent ones first, but you have to check manually if there's anything new.

So if you follow a user, what does it mean?
I've never used that before, but surely it must update you with something about them?
Also, are you sure you're not going to a store page from his reviews? Cos that could trigger his reviews as the top maybe?
Comment has been collapsed.
I think you might see their activity on your feed without necessarily adding them to your friend list, or something like that, I'm not 100% clear on it, but maybe that info will get you on the right track.

I am impressed that they can review more products than they own, how does that work?
Also, why do you need to block their reviews? I'm not sure I follow what's going on..

They review games that nobody buys, those are usually tagged with "Profile Features Limited" and do not count as games for the counter. It's also possible to remove games from your library or refund them after reviewing, but I don't think this is what's happening here.

On a store page, using uBlock Origin:
By name (can change):
store.steampowered.com##.review_box:has-text(Obey the Fist!)
Xeloses has a better filter: https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/5MPZq9O
By profile URL (can change if user sets up a custom profile URL):
store.steampowered.com##.review_box:has(a[href^="https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198030784015/"])
Using just a part of the profile URL:
store.steampowered.com##.review_box:has(a[href*="76561198030784015"])
By mini profile ID (permanent?):
store.steampowered.com##.review_box:has([data-miniprofile="70518287"])
Same, but more strict (limited to search within class "persona_name" - like Xeloses did):
store.steampowered.com##.review_box:has(.persona_name:has([data-miniprofile="70518287"]))

interesting O.o
I'll try that for the heck of it too, not sure whom to block though, any volunteers?

Updated my post with a name independent approach. It uses the numeric profile ID. There are various ways to get hold of the number.
Though if it's just about one user who never changes his name, it's not necessary.
Edit: Actually it's not always numeric - if the user set up a custom profile URL, this is used, and unfortunately can change.
However I added a 3rd method, that is using mini profile IDs. I hope these work similar to numeric profile IDs ?

Well, it was a joke anyway. I don't think he writes them all himself, probably using some AI to generate reviews. Even old reviews are edited on 2021 and they're long too. No idea why would someone do this but gotta agree on committed troll.
Comment has been collapsed.
The problem is that he writes negative things about almost every game that isn't AAA, even really good indie games. He seems more like a troll to me or someone with a really closed mind.
A lot of his reviews seem immature with bad reasons for giving them a negative review and I don't even think he plays the games. As an example, Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is one of my favorite games of all time and has overwhelmingly positive reviews. He gave it a negative review because it was designed around playing with a controller and this is how he finished his review:
Most PC gamers don't own childrens toy controllers for console peasants. Therefore, this game will be unplayable for most. Therefore, I can't recommend it.
Edit: There is a list of other really good games that he gave negative reviews to in my other comment here.

99% of his reviews are calling out asset flips and other crap. I don't know how he has the time but he is doing a huge but ultimately futile service for the Steam platform with those. Everybody would be better off if that crap was not allowed on Steam. The bad part is that they are also on a crusade about some legit games. Especially games with pixel graphics and console or mobile ports. For some weird reason he also tends to consider older versions of games obsolete. (Like if there is an XY Simulator 2022 the chance is high you will find their review on XY Simulator 2018 about how it should be removed from the store.) Those reviews can be quite obnoxious with tirades about how PC gamers deserve better.

I have come across that user's reviews many times and I find him really annoying. He gives almost everything that isn't a big AAA game a negative review, even really good games. He seems like a troll. I don't have any interest in blocking reviews though since that seems like too much effort for something like this that is extremely rare.

The issue is that I don't think he plays the games and just writes reviews based on broad assumptions from stuff on the Steam page like the trailer, tags, or maybe other peoples reviews. He also writes the same stuff on different reviews because he isn't talking about his experiences with the specific game he is just talking about something he doesn't like in general about those type of games. It seems like he finds something he doesn't like about games in general, searches his entire Steam library for those type of games, and then writes negative reviews on all of them without playing.
This is useless information for people reading reviews and I think these are bad reasons for leaving a negative review. He is not reviewing the game based on the quality of the game. His reviews are not reviews of the game, but more of him just voting it down and talking trash because the dev has a different opinion than he does.
He acts like any game genre that is not liked by him shouldn't be on Steam and says these games are lowering the overall quality of games on Steam even though a lot of these games are actually increasing the quality of games on Steam because they are really good and tons of people love them. We need more good interesting indie games instead of the rehashed expensive AAA games that are so popular. He called Finding Paradise slapped together shovelware.

This is accurate. All reviewing is by its very nature, subjective, and so while it might seem objectionable, in reality it's just opinions, which are rarely in alignment with everyone's expectations.
I personally prefer reviews that focus on the user experience. The developers can handle their own marketing, but the potential purchaser can generally benefit from reading/watching a breakdown of someone else's prior experience with a game/book//movie/etc...Most people don't have unlimited budgets, so I think that is where reviews are particularly valuable. But that's just my preference overall.

His Terraria and Stardew Valley reviews are really funny due to how stupid they are.
Comment has been collapsed.
You linked Terraria twice. Here is Stardew Valley.
the game is just a 2D platformer in the 3D era, again, laziness is the only explanation.
He thinks the only reason anyone makes a 2D game is because they are lazy. That is the worst thing about his reviews. He thinks anyone that likes something different than what he likes is wrong and that makes the game bad. He is very immature.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, you're right, corrected it. Thanks!
Yeah, you're right, and calling the Stardew dev lazy due to it having pixelated graphics is crazy, the man made the whole game by himself, how is that lazy?

Some of these are my favorite games on steam. i also started following small developers over time, like Raw Fury.
However, i'm just happy someone is downvoting every single asset flip on steam. There is no way he has been doing all of these without just resorting to sampling the same critics over and over again. No one buys these games on steam, most people who review them got them for free.
it's absolutely pointless, but its a negative review on a game thats exactly like 50 other games you can find on steam.

Add custom filters to any AdBlocking extension (AdBlock / AdGuard / uBlock):
store.steampowered.com##.review_box:has(.persona_name:has-text(Obey the Fist!))
steamcommunity.com##.apphub_Card:has(.apphub_CardContentAuthorName:has-text(Obey the Fist!))
If you want to block multiple users (works in uBlock; not sure about RegExp support in other extensions):
store.steampowered.com##.review_box:has(.persona_name:has-text(/(Username1|Username2|...etc...|UsernameX)/i))
steamcommunity.com##.apphub_Card:has(.apphub_CardContentAuthorName:has-text(/(Username1|Username2|...etc...|UsernameX)/i))
Replace Username1
, Username2
, ... with Steam nicknames of ignored users.
Names must be separated with | symbol.

These are the people that solve puzzles apparently impossible to solve. Full respect (I saw some of the reviews of the person you want to erase. I kind of understand. He seems too obsessed)

It seems you're strong with the force, master Jedi.
Can I ask if there's a way to block the reviews of an user, as you did, except if it contains the words "asset flip"? I don't think it's possible, or if it makes steam go out of your ears, don't think about it. But if you know the way, I'll be your grateful padawan.

Try this:
store.steampowered.com##.review_box:has(.persona_name:has-text(Obey the Fist!)):not(:has(.content:has-text(asset flip)))
steamcommunity.com##.apphub_Card:has(.apphub_CardContentAuthorName:has-text(Obey the Fist!)):not(:has(.apphub_CardTextContent:has-text(asset flip)))

This is a pretty unique scenario inasmuch as this reviewer being your true polar opposite with respect to how you view the same type of games. Kind of interesting from the outside looking in.
There are a lot of flaws and some twisted logic in his review mission statement, but you gotta respect the drive that allows a person to write nearly 10k reviews.
I do wonder if blocking the user will impact his review visibility when you're looking at a game's reviews. Beyond that, I don't know if there is really a way to do so.

i'm starting thinking that your come back to SG is not, afterall, that great thing! :D
i don't like your comments for various reasons, but the bigger one is that they make me thinking intensively. i have a very long answer for you, but won't write it here, right now.
though, that bit
this reviewer being your true polar opposite
is just awesome π€

I'm not seeing anything to take exception to in my comment here, but thinking intensely can only be a positive. :)

I don't think I came across their reviews before today, and the sheer number seems impressive in its own right, regardless of the content.
On the one hand I too wonder, why review all these asset flips, on the other hand, I've done reviews on trash before (I clearly need to step up my review game). Like I get it but I also don't. Though I think AFs deserve all the downvotes they can get, so I can't fault them for that.
Is your problem that you keep seeing the reviews in your activity feed or just among the first to pop up on all the store pages you hit? (I assume it wouldn't be the former unless you are befriended, though.) I don't know if changing your review filters would do you any good, but it might help reducing these. Possibly.
EDIT: oh it looks like you found a helpful hand while I was reading and writing, haha.

I've read a ton of his reviews, but most of his reasoning is so flawed and borderline childish that none of his statements helps me in anyway except when he detects an asset flip. Of all the probably hundreds of reviews I've read from him, only asset flip warnings are useful to me.
Another thing that annoys me so much is if he hates that kind of games so much, why is he buying shitty bundles with tons of games he knows he will not like and even ending deleting them? Just to say "mobile games don't belong to PC"? Sure, bad mobile ports suck, but there are many legit and great mobile games successfully ported to PC. Same about GameMaker games (Stealth Bastard Deluxe). And lots of other game engines that seems to him reason enough to put the game to shame. Sure that many games built around game engine tutorials suck big time, but he just doesn't distinguish them. Specially RPGMaker games, there are a few masterpieces there, there are playable games there, but he doesn't dare to go against popular games most of the times with rare exceptions, and feasts on smaller unknown games, specially enjoying being the first to write a review for a pixel art game that might be decent or even great but not AAA 3D with Raytracing.
A last point is that he uses boilerplate text. Chunks of text repeated over and over through those thousands of reviews. He detects N features in 5 minutes, and copypastes the needed paragraphs changing a lil thing here and there.
I'm not blocking here, but he's the 2nd most annoying reviewer I've found, in my opinion. I actually don't count his review for personal purposes.
Comment has been collapsed.
it also would be really nice to have the opposite, a way to follow his reviews even if we're not Steam friends
Here's a userscript I wrote to do just that:
https://gist.github.com/ormax3/e4e05667a7b23d2ae7c48d0b4ad8546c
As explained in the instructions, you need to fill the array at the beginning of the code with the steam ids of the users you want to follow their reviews. Use a service like this one to lookup the required info: https://steamid.xyz/
Hope it helps :)
