I dont see the problem. most major companies will buy every new iteration. AS every iteration is usually less than 24 months. The monthly bundle is already the far most popular way of purchasing a license that they will not be losing money for this.

Why not just instead of giving Adobe money for their DRM crap software donate that money to the GIMP project to have them implement all the features that die-hard PS fans are saying that are missing? :-P Think of it - a 1000 companies, all give 1200$ to the GIMP = load of money, pay the devs to implement cool stuff and in effect everybody has the best raster graphics tool for free forever and with source code!

Not really. You can still get the offline edition. Besides, Office 365 Home premium is $99/YEAR for 5 PCs or Macs plus select mobile devices.
On the other hand, I had a different idea about how cloud computing should be. This is not cloud computing. It's just subscription based pricing. Security companies are doing this for years now.

Actually they will still be selling CS6 so be free to buy and use it but for professional users the new cloud system is the best. Why ? They always buy new version of adobe products every 2-3 years but they miss a lot of updates during this time. Now they will always be up to date and they will pay exactly the same money.
Just Photoshop alone costs 700$, CS is even more expensive, so 50$/month for the whole package with all updates - i think it is a great deal.
CS6 Master Collection cost 2800$ when it was released. 2800$/50$ = 56 months -> 4 years and 8 months. U get all adobe products for 50$/month + all updates. If u buy new version every 2-3 years you save a lot of money.

Do you use any of the Creative Suite products (Photoshop, Audition, Premiere)? If you do, Adobe just announced that they'd love to screw you.
They will no longer be selling perpetual licenses of new versions. Instead, if you want new features, you'll have to pay 50 bucks a month for the suite. The suite currently costs ~1200 dollars, meaning that if you use the subscription model for more than two years, you're paying more money to rent the software than to own it forever.
I was really hoping for CS7 to add the cloud exclusive features, but now Adobe has lost my money.
