IT could be real since one Valve employee corrected the name a few hours ago, on the forums.

Generic name like Global Offensive makes me think of a free to play game, especially given Valve's recent moves.
Or perhaps it's a giant sociological experiment, where hardcoure CS players amd semi-normal people interact and Valve employees giggle about it.

Actually a name like Global Offensive makes me think of it as a play on World at War, etc. They want to make out that this is a Counter-Strike game with an emphasis on modernized game play, modernized graphics. This is not your old Counter-Strike anymore, this is Global Offensive.
Capisce?

I find it hard to believe that Valve will split the Counter-Strike community a third time like they did with CS and CS:Source. I also find it hard to believe that we'll see any radical changes to either game since the community is notoriously finicky about keeping their game the same as it's been for the last 11 years.
What I can imagine is more along the lines of a "spiritual successor" for people who aren't hardcore CS players (and thus unwilling to try something now), but who also want a new CS-like experience.

This is news to me, Never heard of it, nor taken it into consideration that there would be another CS game.
If it is F2P then it won't affect any of the original / hardcore CS players, simply because, If you pay to play you generally have a certain degree of skill or you enjoy the game for what it is. And I'm not saying F2P players are skill-less, some may be better than pay to play gamers.
If if IS (note the capital letters) F2P it would seem that Valve are slowly stepping out into the open, and this is effectively a huge marketing campaign for them. More users of CS = more steam accounts, more possiblity for people to buy steam store games, and possibly even buy the old CS games out of interest. (Overall, more money)
Above post might make little to no sense to some of you, that's ok.. I don't understand it either :D

It seems a new Counter Strike game is on the way, and it looks like it could be amazing.
