Just realised that in 10+ years of using Steam, I've never more than glanced at it - or, like the other day, accidently clicked the button.
Any benefits of using it at a PC without a controller?
Do any just prefer that interface? Curious.

Do you ever go to Big Picture Mode

Big what now?
Only by accident... grr.
Occasionally.
Only when using a controller or if attached to a TV.
A lot / always!

Never on purpose.

lol - same. Took me a few secs to find the exit button the other day...
Had another look this morning and with K&M it's of course cumbersome. The one thing that was cool, was browsing my screenshots full screen. Don't think that's possible in desktop Steam without opening the folder?

It is weird that shutting down the computer comes before exiting Big Picture mode :D

Haha. Saw this topic and that was exactly my thought. I've 'used' it a lot, mostly when I bump the wrong button on my controller.

It's great if you only want to use a controller, even between games themselves. If you have enough space for a mouse (and keyboard) then I think it's a lot easier to navigate with mouse in Steam, and swap for controller with your game.

(I almost never use it, but when I need to, it's really good)

I only ever use it when I'm using my steamlink, but that's decently often.

Same, and then it is always: Steam button > Power > Turn off Big Picture Mode

For some time I was using it a lot. Just treated my PC as a game console, even made my Windows to boot directly to Steam Big Picture Mode.

Yes, when I connect laptop to the TV and play couch co-op using wireless controllers (like a game console mode)

TBH no idea what it really does - I have opened it by mistake before but almost always close I as soon as I can

I opened it a few times by mistake and then I had to find out how to get out of it again.

Its made for TV + controllers, basically it reproduce smooth interface interaction that you have on consoles, and there is no sense to use it with keyboard + mouse. I used it occasionally when I had chill gaming sessions playing platformers back in a days

I used the big picture mode a lot while using Steam Link (the hardware box) on the TV with a controller, but even then I went to the desktop mode quite often. It works like a Remote Desktop so it was useful for that.
But now with a Steam Deck I rarely use Big Picture mode or play on the TV, like most others it’s just an annoying misclick now.

A few times but never on purpose and it was always a big task to find the way back to the normal client version.
"Good" way to make me aggressive.

I sometimes open it as I have purchased some opening animation scenes from the points shop, and to be honest the ui is very bad, like there is no option which game we want to see, there is no correct order to show games and the interface also looks bad.

On Steam Deck - all the time. On Desktop, only on accident.

Since currently my gaming PC stands beside my TV and I mainly play games with controller, I use it almost always.

I always try and play games on my TV, and using Big Picture is kind of mandatory with a controller. It's much better than it was at first launch, that's for sure.

Only when my Deck is docked. Which rarely ever happens. But with a more potent successor, able to run games in good quality and performance in decent resolutions ... sure.

Yes. Always when I am streaming my games via Steamlink from the PC to the TV in the living room.

Back when it was the easiest way to set up steam input for specific games I used it every now and then, but ever since the new interface I've only ever used big picture for streaming, something I rarely do.

I have a computer hooked up to my TV, it boots into Big Picture automatically, I use it all the time.

Also, Steam Deck. But I use the TV more than the Steam Deck.

Thanks for all the replies!
As I suspected - only really for controllers and/or with a TV. Seems no worthy features that appeal to a PC gamer.
I'm relieved I'm not the only one that has launched it by accident. Else, it could be just poor poll questions, lol.

I play the vast majority of my PC games on a TV with a gamepad, and I don't use it. Not a big fan of the UI.

I use it a lot. I have a PC in my living room connected to our old but big TV (55''). I want to use it from a distance, I mean, from the comfort of our couch. So I get it to boot directly into Steam's Big Picture, and I can navigate everything using just a DS4 controller (bluetooth), my fat ass blessed by the touch of soft cushions and pillows. Hm-hm!

(In other words, the PC ends up working exactly like a console -- but with access to the whole Steam Library.)

Cheers! :D

I have only used it... for troubleshooting controller issues... as when you google the issue people said I tried in big picture mode and it worked(so far has never fixed it for me)
