Steam gift and/or steam key

Hi I am doing my first 2 giveaways and I wanted to know if I am allowed to giveaway a key and not a game from my steam inventory?
When i created my giveaway it said I could but when i read the forums about giveaways it said gifts only.
I am confused!?

Yes, you can give a key that the winner will activate on Steam ;)
As long as the key is redeemable on Steam (and not on, say, Origin or Desura) and it's working, it's fine.

key is alowed, almost all my GA have been keys
