Is this bundle truly a Killer one?
Atari Vault and Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter made it a buy for me. I wish it had some of the Activision classics, like Pitfall / Pitfall II and River Raid.

I was only missing King of Fighters so I decided to skip. Not really a fan of fighting games.

I would have paid that price for just kof 14 and i legit want everything in it as i didnt grab the other dupes in previous bundles. Big fan of all the SNK stuff so yeah cool bundle, way to kick it off when i thought id buy nothing this bundlefest.

Yeah, really. Plus, I really don't get what everybody else seems to be seeing in this bundle. Maybe because I already played all these retro games when they were new, and feel no need at all to play them again.Thankfully games have evolved since then...

Retro?
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, the Surge and Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter are not that old and good games that were not bundled that often before (but at least two of them where free on other platforms)
Still a good bundle compared to other bundles.

Ah, you got it all wrong. When I said retro I was referring to ... well ... to the retro games included.
The Surge and Sherlock have been in Monthlies, I already have them, so re-bundles. And yeah, Wonder Boy is the only interesting title for me in this bundle. Not gonna buy for one game only tho...

I would tend to agree. It's just too niche for what is supposed to be your flagship bundle imo. If you are really into or have significant nostalgia for retro stuff (in particular SNK) then you'll probably love it, but otherwise not so much.

watch it die right when everybody who signed up for the old price system with a full year run out. worse games and higher price XD

You can keep the classic pricing indefinitely by pausing and buying month to month.

SNK 40th and KOF 14 is all I needed, but this is an awesome bundle.

Maybe If i would not have Sherlock and Surge I would buy. Rest are not my cup of tea. Classic games looks interesting from a sentiment point of view but I would probably did not return to this games.anyway :/, and fighting games are not my cup of tea (I played such games like Mortal Combat or virtual fighters in Amiga or early PC times ;) )...

And i am still waiting for wildlands for so damn long.

Is this a joke? The game has 2 season passes. Not just 1 but 2 so i have no idea how you end up believing that the game has no dlc while it has more than most ubi titles.
Also why do you believe that not many people enjoy UPLAY copies? Because people on the internet complain? There are no financial reports about how well uplay copies sell but considering they keep bunding most of their famous franchises they have to sell really good.

The only game that interests me is The Surge and I already have that one. The King of Fighters suffers the same problem that other fighting games that get bundled have, charaters locked behind DLC's. This one has two DLC's with 4 characters each and each costs 20€ so hard pass on that.
Hopefully the next bundle will be better.

I always wonder about VAT for European countries. Do they actually provide that money somehow or is it just an excuse to charge more? I have a hard time imagining the administration going into this if they're actually paying taxes in all those countries.

I assure you VAT is the most normal thing in the world in other countries. In most countries it's about a quarter of the state budget. Where I live it's 30%. The 19% on regular goods, 7% on food/books/water/art together amount to 200 billion (euros) per year that are split between federal government, state governments, and cities / municipalities. If you so want the money can be used to pay for anything whatsoever - from roadworks to the occupation of Afghanistan.
So basically they'd have to collect the money separately for each EU country they have customers in and send it to the appropriate places.
But because they sell "app downloads" / "online gaming" I guess they qualify for MOSS https://europa.eu/youreurope/business/taxation/vat/vat-digital-services-moss-scheme/index_en.htm#headofficeineu where they would have so far paid the UK VAT in their (Fanatical's) UK home and separately the VAT for all other countries, still split by customer member country, but paid to one single office that then redistributes it per-country.
Now that the UK is not in the EU anymore, they can just pick a EU country they want to do this in, like Ireland or Luxembourg or whatever and send the money there: https://europa.eu/youreurope/business/taxation/vat/vat-digital-services-moss-scheme/index_en.htm#outsidetheeu
Of course the more complex a tax scheme is, the bigger its administrative overhead becomes, but this isn't even all that complicated. At the bottom of the links above under Keeping records you see what kinda information they need to store (hopefully in a cute spreadsheet).

I get the idea behind taxes just fine. I live in one of the world's most taxed countries after all. It's just the redistribution of them when I buy stuff that seems a little suspect to me. If I understand what you wrote correctly it could mean that the VAT I'm paying to Fanatical get's distributed to another country?
I understand that they are doing this basically because they can but as far as I know I don't have to pay tax on stuff I bought if I went to UK or US and bought it in a store. Then again I'm not exactly a globetrotter so I could be wrong.
Edit: Reading this back I kind of think I got the "tone" all wrong so I have to stress that I'm grateful for the reply. I too lazy to try to correct the tone though
