Its the only kind I like.
Not because I want to cheat my way through things but because life is hectic and its nice to log off quick and log back in the same place.

You're in the minority.
Most gamers rage at console style checkpoint saving systems.

Don't like it, don't use it. That's my opinion.
I'm busy, I don't get much time to play games. If I'm playing a game and then I'm asked to work, I need to stop there and then.

<sarcasm>yeah i would rather get a checkpoint right before and RPG hits me in the face
or no save points for 2-3 hours of gameplay sure why not its not like have other things to do
</sarcasm>
and i don't really think its cheating if u undo killing something or take another path
its not like you are breaking game
to be honest a lot of games have branches im not interested in following and not going to spend 10 hours just to see what that one quest would have turned like

How does how anyone else plays their single player game prevent you from enjoying the experience? If you don't want "cheap" saves just don't do it.
In most games I don't do it but in games like TES, Deus Ex, Fallout... I love fucking around so much so I need that function. I sometimes decide I wanna kill everyone in a room so I do it then go back. I sometimes don't like how I did X or Y because I committed a mistake so I go back. I enjoy it. I remember when I played DE:HR I spent around 14-16 hours playing around in what for most people would be the first 2 hours of gameplay. Why is it wrong that I like doing that? Why do you care if I do?
Some other games have checkpoints instead and they fit the style of the game because the game is designed around the idea of dying and replaying the level again. It works in those games but open world sandbox-y games are completely different.
And then there's games which have checkpoints but they do them completely wrong and turn the game into a frustrating experience. So I'd rather have quick saves in games that don't know what they want to do with their saving system, too.

Ha, I have the "quick save syndrome". I quick save, open inventory then quick save again after I close it (as an example), or after taking a few steps :D (not always or all games, but it does happen)
It doesn't cheapen my game experience at all, quite the opposite: I'm having fun.

I think checkpoints should stay where they belong, on consoles. It's the player's choice to savescum, i do it in some games and i don't do it in others. Checkpoints can be used for it just like savegames can, they just make it a bit more tedious, at the same time they make the game more tedious for everyone else. I don't want to have to redo a whole section of the game, especially on long levels, just because i can't continue to play until the next checkpoint or because i get screwed by the game's RNG and get oneshot by a crit. If you like torturing yourself you can just make every game have ironamn mode, forget about the save button and live and die by the autosaves.

It's cheap, it's usually found in games that have consequences for your actions and/or branching paths.
"Oh man I had to kill that guy while I was doing a no kill run. Oh well good thing I saved three seconds ago"
or
"Man, I didn't want that to happen. )-: Good thing I saved before I progressed the quest!"
I know it's up to the players on how they decide to use/abuse the save system, and then there's the whole "this playstyle isn't any less right or wrong than yours" debate. I could keep going on how it devalues the purpose of having consequences and branching paths but then again that falls under the "my playstyle is as valid as yours" thing.
So what's your opinion about it?
