1st week: sleep.
2nd week: travel. Destinations depends on your $$, where are you from, where have you already been, etc.

Honestly... I'd say, if you've got a bucket list and some spare cash, try and take care of a few of those things. If not of course, well... Just do whatever makes you happiest. That sounds kinda lame I suppose, but still. Try not to be -too- adventurous though. It's dangerous to go alone, after all.

Why not spend some time exploring your surroundings. Visit nearby cities and places that you've not yet been to. It should be relatively cheap, and who knows, you might get a whole new appreciation for the area around you. I just checked your profile, and according to it, you live in Prague, so one obvious place you could take a day-trip to is Kutná Hora, with its famous bone church and the large cathedral (The tourist site that I ended up on when checking the spelling for that city made the train station look a lot nicer than it did when I was there a few years ago).

Lol, I did the same on his/her profile and was looking at the big green part known as Křivoklátsko. Looks nice. Then I saw Plzeň on the map, which I know is famous for beer but I'm sure there must be other stuff to do as well.

It may sound a little unbelievable, but I've been pretty much everywhere in Czech Republic. We used to travel a lot as a family and still sometimes do. As we never were rich, local travel was the cheapest to do.
I'm trying hard to figure out more interesting places to go to here.

A trip to Prague – since you are already there you will cut the travelling expenses... Seriously though – if you are not into adventures – take a book and just place yourself in a junkies-free park (assuming the spring is here) or a tea room/café and try to taste as much new things as you could.

Check the travel itineraries for your city on the web. Most of them will point to obvious tourist traps, but you can find some really good ones with cool underground places (like speakeasy bars or little hidden museums) and spend a few days like a tourist. Really, even if you are local, you can find some things you never expected, right under your nose.

Don't listen to those never travel alone people. I've been travelling on my own for more than six months and I was having the time of my life.
Oh, and I might want to add, I'm female.
Regarding the desitnation: if you're tired of the winter, travel south. If you like it cold, explore the north. Pack a backpack, board a train and see where you end up. Just get off that train where you think it looks nice. Then watch where your feet are taking you.

it's easy for you to say. let's hear it from your parents.

that doesn't mean she doesn't have parents. unless they're dead obviously. should i said "your folks" or something?

How is anybody supposed to lead a life of his/her own when he or she only does what their parents approve of? Of course did my parents not like me travelling alone. They also didn't like many other decisions I made in my life so far. It's my life, not theirs. And I enjoy my life quite alot :)

i didn't say you should ask your every move to them. hell no. i just said it's harder for the people left behind, especially for parents. and especially if that person going away on his/her own is a girl (girl is not used to specify an age range. put woman, lady, female, madam etc whatever you like instead of it.). believe me i know. i've been on the both sides. nevertheless it's nice to see someone thinking and enjoying things alike. because we're not family.

Pick a city you've never been to, spend at least 2 days there just looking around. Works for me at least.

Depends if you're looking to go international or stay closer to home. I never have time to travel any more other than for work. Well, I should say I'm unable to make time since most people don't just happen to find a week or two wide open. My wife told me she wants to see more of the world and bought us tickets to go to several countries she hasn't been to later this year. She loves to have every detail planned while I'm spontaneous. So, random tickets works for me!
My best suggestion is keep an open mind within your limitations. Only you know if you like to have everything planned (find a tour group to join? Cruise? Etc) or if you're like me and you'll just jump on a plane, go somewhere, and find out what you're doing when you get there.
Even if there's a city nearby that you haven't thoroughly explored, it's a great way to feel like you're far from home without really being far. You'd be surprised what you can find within a few hours drive/train/travel.

There's nothing wrong with staying at home and have a stayation. I do that sometimes. its cheap and relaxing. But you should really take advantage of this opportunity while you're young. Hop on some trains around Europe and crash at Hostels. One place I'd suggest is Salzburg. That place was beautiful and the people were quite friendly.

I have gotten an EURAIL pass in the past to travel all over. The freedom to jump on a train as you choose and go somewhere is incredible. Haven't purchased one in several years, but when I did I was able to choose how many zones I wanted (distance for travel). The closer to home one stays the cheaper the pass. They're available here.

Go explore your city. I have lots of friends that do not know their home well. I guess you could go museums or your country tourist spots

I don't understand all the posts saying not to travel somewhere. I love traveling solo, because it means you don't have to adjust your plans to accommodate what your companion wants to do. No matter who you're with, you're not going to agree 100% of the time on where to go, how long to spend there, where to eat, etc.
I've had some great trips just going to some random city, seeing the sights, and purposely getting lost walking around different neighborhoods.. Grab a cheap flight somewhere a few hours away, and just explore. If money is tight, Berlin is one of my favorite cities I've ever been to, and has some of the cheapest hotels around. Since you mentioned your parents giving you stuff to do if you stay home, I assume you're pretty young, so maybe a hostel would be a good fit as well.

If you want to travel alone, plan your trip ahead. Book a place to stay in so you don't waste time looking for one. Know the places that you want to go to and places that other travelers recommend.

Hello, fellow SteamGifters, have I got a question for you!
I'm about to take the first real vacation ever and now I'm kind of stuck at what to do or where to go. Let's say you have a week or two of free time, average amount of money (seriously, no billionare here) and no companions. How do you spend your vacation? I though about just being home and lounge around, play games, etc. But I feel that it would be a waste of the vacation time (it doesn't grow on trees, you know).
So, how do you/should you spend your vacation time alone? I'm welcome to any ideas.
Meow.
Edit:
As I predicted, lot of you guys are suggesting travel. While I already traveled a lot around my country (Czech Republic), I'm a little afraid to travel alone aborad. But I think I would be able to go somewhere for a day or to. Sooo, any tips for a one day trip or a weekend trip around Europe? A little reminder, I do not own a car or can go by plane (too expensive, unless there are some price steals around that I don't know about).
