Seeing people are putting in their full specs, I will do so too.

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K

CPU Cooler: Artic Freezer 7 Pro rev. 2

Case: CoolerMaster Storm Scout

MB: GIGABYTE Z77X-D3H

RAM: Crucial 8GB KIT DDR3 1600MHz CL8 Ballistix Tactical Tracer

GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 6790

PSU: Enermax NAXN 82+ ENP550AWT-B 550W Bronze

Gonna add SSD in the near future and upgrade GPU in the further future. Not gonna OC cpu for the time being, since it's power is enough for me atm. But gonna do so when it starts to be a bother.

have you ran temps with your cpu cooler in that position? im curious to see if the heat from the back of the gpu card is raising the temp of your cpu.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

w/o load the temps stay around 25 to 30 C, under load 65-75 C.

im thinking of getting the the crucial tactical tracers i wish they had the blue, green light kit instead of blue, orange.

how to you like them? and what color set did you buy and price?

after i saw then on YT i want them the only thing that im worried about is the cpu cooler on mine it might just might not fit because of 1 memory slot right next to cpu. the top of the memory with that chrome edge might be to tall for clearence with the CM 212 EVO.

Well, I don't think that the size would be a problem, though I'm kinda regreting getting them. The glow is really nice but in the night it gets kinda annoying, since it does not glow constantly, but flashes, what does not really cope with my girl friend sleeping behind me.

I got them for 65 euros.

Custom PCs...? You guys don't buy an Alienware? lol That's lame.

I got a 25% off deal with some awesome super computer, was only 2k(and not 2.5k) and I got 2 560 ti GPU cards.

Was a pretty awesome deal. :P

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K @4.5GHZ (Actually rather cool, will push higher if bored, someday)
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua DH-N14
  • Case: Cooler Master Storm Trooper
  • Motherboard: Asus Maximus V Formula
  • Memory: Samsung MV-3V4G3D/US (Aka Samsung Green) 16 Gigs, 10-10-10-28 @ 2133MHZ (Minimal effort overclock, might try for better, someday)
  • Video Card: MSI Lightning R7970 1170/1800 (Could go higher if I wanted to tinker with voltage)
  • Power Supply: Antec TPQ-1200
  • SSD: Samsung 840 Series MZ-7TD250BW 250GB
  • Harddrive: Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 3TB
  • Monitor: Asus VS248H-P

Over time I'll add a 500gb SSD, some more 3tb harddrives, another 7970, an Nvidia card for PhysX, 1 or two more monitors, and maybe some more cooling, not that I need it, yet. I'm tapped right now. That put me out. I'm in piece by piece mode, right now.

Also, my other gaming things:

  • Mouse: Logitech G700
  • Keyboard: Corsair K90
  • Headset: Sennheiser PC360
  • Headphones: Sennheiser HD555 (Modded)
  • Sound: Astro Mixamp
  • Mousepad: Steelseries 4HD

how to you hack the drivers to work like that? amd w/ nvidia for physx

Try here to start. This is a great forum, for it.

I mean, I can't start to comprehend this. Won't the motherboard start to freak out when it discovers an amd + nvidia on the pcie's? Like won't be the driver conflict to each other thus you can't run them simultaneously? Also won't be the main GPU bottlenecked or not do its 100% pontential same and vice versa with the physx card.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The motherboard won't care. Nvidia cards are made to not work with another card, but the driver files can be modified to stop it from caring. The Nvidia card will end up getting called upon for PhysX duties, if you set it up right. It might bottleneck if you went with a weak Nvidia card.

Permalink

That's what I'm wondering about, I know nvidia will just refuse to work if it detected a non-nvidia card. Didn't know that it will still process physx even it is already refusing to work with a non-nvidia card.

It won't out of the box. You have to hack it a bit, to make them work together.

i went with an 850 watt cause i wanted extra juice when i upgrade to more fans or lights and video card. and i had a 500 watt before i got the 850 and i noticed the fan lights would have a lil surge in them like not enough power. at first i thought it was my touch screen fan controller but after i upgraded to the 850 watt i dont have that surge anymore. the gpu consumed alot of psu resources so it looked like power surges but really was not enough power.

I built this two years ago and have ordered a Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB SSD from Newegg which should be here in a couple of days. I may get a new video card in the future but only if I get a game that chokes the HD6850 too much. I get about 65 fps playing BF3 at 1920X1080 with all settings on high so it might be a while.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

i agree with you and the BF3 is the only game that i know of that is such a hog that some people need to upgrade. but i would not either since it runs nice on high settings on mine as well. the only think i have been thinking about is a water cool set up but a straight up custom set up but since i have OCD and i clean my computer from top to bottom every month just to wipe the dust off so it looks brand new. with my config the air flow is so good it really does not collect dust but there is a lil bit that collects on the fans.

My main gaming machine is currently getting fixed after a screen problem, but the specs are: Tegra 3, 1GB RAM, 32GB "SSD". :) It's my Nexus 7. :)

My secondary gaming machine's spec is: Gigabyte MA790X-UD4, Phenom II X6 1090T, 4GB DDR2-800 RAM, Radeon 5750, 128GB SSD, 500GB+500GB+250GB+ 1TB external HDD, and some other stuff. That's downgraded from 8GB of RAM (because RAM fried) and Radeon 5850 (because it was noisy and too big to comfortably fit in the case alongside the disk drives, although what prompted me to take it out was that I suspected it before I realised it was the RAM that's defective). There's a case + MB + RAM upgrade waiting for me about 3 months in the future. I might try using the Radeon 5850 again at that time.

AMD FX-64 X2 5000+ (BlackBox) - AMD HD 6850 - 4Gb DDR2 - 1Tb RAID 0 SATA 2

But this is the killer - I painted 6 <-- yes 6! go faster stripes on the case and BOOM! Your all wasting your time trying to keep up with that.
